Rio by Sarah K Professional Hair is the formaldehyde-free progressive smoothing system developed specifically for blonde, grey and bleached hair. The formula combines Tannin, hydrolyzed keratin and silk and wheat amino acids with violet pigments, so the hair turns smooth and manageable without fading or yellowing blonde tones. The salon protocol runs in three steps: the Clarifying Shampoo, the Rio Tanino Protein Treatment and the Rio Blond Neutralizing mask. At home, the matched Rio Tanino Shampoo and Conditioner with cupuaçu butter keep the result smooth and cool-toned for longer.

What makes Rio different

Within the Sarah K range, Rio is the blonde specialist. Carnival offers the same three-step architecture for all hair types, So Liss pairs preparation with a progressive or BTX route, and La Vie en Rose is the vegan line. Rio is the only line with violet pigments that neutralize yellow undertones while the hair is being smoothed. The Tanino mechanism does not seal off or break down the hair fibre; the hair keeps absorbing nutrients and moisture and keeps its natural strength and shine, while keratin nourishes the fibre from within for fast recovery.

How the system works

Step 1: wash the hair with the Clarifying Shampoo with Micellar Water until all residue is gone, leaving the shampoo in for 3 minutes on the final wash. Step 2: apply the Rio Tanino Protein Treatment strand by strand, starting 1 cm from the root, leave it in for 45 minutes, rinse thoroughly, dry the hair completely and flat-iron in very fine sections. Step 3: spread the Rio Blond Neutralizing mask through damp hair, leave it for 5 to 15 minutes and rinse; on blonde hair, work the flat iron at up to 180°C in 7 to 10 passes, always more at the roots and less at the tips. At home, the Rio Tanino Shampoo and Conditioner extend the smooth, cool-blonde result.
