  2. After 48 hours after receipt: return at your own expense.

For more information, read further on our page Service & Repair.

Average turnaround time: approximately 21 days. Internal repairs are usually faster.

Throughout the entire process we keep you informed via email. Once the item is ready, you have two options:

1. Return by post: we send the item back to you free of charge and provide you with a Track & Trace code via email so you can follow the shipment.

2. Self-collection: you can collect the item free of charge at our B2B address: Terbekehofdreef 6-8 A6, 2610 Wilrijk.

A typical example: you tried to adjust the cutting height to zero (zero-gap) on your clipper, and now the device makes noise or no longer works correctly.

Is this covered by the warranty? No. Self-modifications to the device — such as setting a zero-gap, disassembling the blades or other mechanical changes — are excluded from the warranty. This applies to all brands.

But don't panic — we can help! We can repair your clipper at cost price. Contact us and we will provide you in advance with a clear overview of the costs, so you know what to expect before the repair starts.

How to request a paid repair?

  1. Contact us via info@beautyaswell.com or WhatsApp.

  3. Briefly describe what was modified and what the current problem is.

Yes absolutely! We offer a wide range of cruelty-free and vegan products.

Since 2013 it has been prohibited within the European Union to test cosmetics on animals. All cosmetic products in our range sold within the EU therefore comply with this regulation and are cruelty-free.

  • Cruelty-free: The product or its ingredients have not been tested on animals.
  • Vegan: The product contains no ingredients of animal origin (such as honey, beeswax, keratin of animal origin, etc.).
Looking for a specific vegan product? On each product page you will find whether the product is vegan. In doubt? Contact our customer service — we are happy to give you targeted advice.

Yes absolutely, all our products have an expiry date or an indication of the shelf life after opening.

You will find this information on the packaging in two ways:

  • Expiry date (unopened): Usually indicated by a small hourglass symbol or the text "Best before / EXP", followed by the date.
  • Period After Opening (PAO): Indicated by an open-jar symbol containing a number followed by "M" (e.g. 12M = 12 months after opening).

General guideline for our products:

  • Shampoos, conditioners, masks (unopened): 2 to 3 years
  • Keratin and protein treatments (unopened): 2 to 3 years
  • Hairstyling (gel, wax, spray): 2 to 3 years
  • Colour products (unopened): 2 to 3 years
  • After opening: usually 6 to 24 months, depending on the product
Storage tips: Store products in a cool, dry place, out of direct sunlight. Always close the packaging properly after use. This way you get the maximum shelf life from your product.

When choosing a professional device, various factors play a role. An overview:

Clippers (hair cutting)

  • Home use: choose a model with good battery life and simple guide combs. We also recommend JRL Professional for home use — professional quality, long lifespan and easy to use. Other good options: Wahl, Moser, BaBylissPRO.
  • Salon use: invest in professional models with a powerful motor, longer lifespan and wear-resistant blades (e.g. Wahl Magic Clip, JRL Professional).
  • Barbers: choose a clipper with zero-gapped blade for sharp fades and lines.

Trimmers (touch-ups & details)

  • For beard contours, hairlines and fades.
  • Choose a model with a T-blade for precise lines.

Shavers

  • For a smooth, skin-friendly finish after cutting or for daily shaving.
  • Choose a model with gold foil or titanium foil for less skin irritation — ideal for soft skin or sensitive beard area.
  • Professional shavers from brands such as JRL, BaBylissPRO and Wahl are suitable for both home and salon use.

Flat irons

  • Ceramic plates: gentle heating, ideal for fine or damaged hair.
  • Titanium plates: higher temperatures, ideal for thick, coarse or curly hair and for keratin treatments.
  • Adjustable temperature is essential — choose a model with clear settings between 150°C and 230°C.
  • For keratin and protein treatments: always choose a professional flat iron that actually reaches the indicated temperature.
Need advice? Our customer service is happy to advise you based on your hair type, frequency of use and budget. Contact us via WhatsApp or email.

Many brands in our range have mild formulations suitable for sensitive scalp:

  • Sulfate-free and salt-free shampoos — less aggressive on skin and hair.
  • Paraben-free and hypoallergenic formulas — available in several care lines.
  • Colour products without ammonia or PPD — for those sensitive to traditional dyes.

Important with allergies:

  1. Always check the full ingredient list (INCI) on the packaging.
  2. Do an allergy test (patch test) 48 hours before use, especially with dyes, keratin treatments or new products.
  3. If in doubt, consult your GP or dermatologist.
Not sure if a product is suitable? Contact our customer service with the name of your allergen — we are happy to help you make a safe choice.

Many brands sell their products in two lines: a retail version (supermarket, drugstore) and a salon or professional version (only via authorised channels like our webshop). The differences are bigger than people think.

Retail version (supermarket / drugstore)

  • Aimed at the mass market and general use.
  • Often contains more silicones, sulfates and fillers.
  • The fragrance and texture are attractive, but the active concentrations are lower.
  • Suitable for daily use without specific needs.

Salon / professional version

  • Aimed at hairdressers and demanding clients.
  • Higher concentrations of active ingredients (keratin, amino acids, plant extracts).
  • Often sulfate-free, salt-free and without cheap fillers.
  • Better adhesion, longer effect and better long-term results.
  • Ideal for specific needs: damaged hair, after colouring, after keratin treatment.
All our products are 100% authentic and come via official channels within the EU. So you always get the professional salon version, not the retail version.

Keratin & Protein — For the client

This is one of the most frequently asked questions. There are several possible causes:

  • Your hair has changed. Hair is not a fixed matter — it changes from month to month due to season, hormones, stress, nutrition, sun, chlorine and heat styling. The same product can therefore give different results on the same person at different times.
  • The flat iron was not hot enough. Many flat irons indicate a temperature on screen that the plates do not actually reach.
  • Other products in your routine block the action. Shampoos with silicones, styling products and dry shampoo leave a layer on the hair that prevents the active components from penetrating.
  • Small differences in application — such as the amount of product, processing time, hair moisture level and the number of passes with the flat iron — have a great influence on the result.

Even when you follow the instructions step by step, there are factors outside the instructions that strongly influence the final result:

  • The flat iron — the most important point
  • The water quality in your home (hard water reduces the effectiveness of the product)
  • The products you use before and after the treatment
  • The current state of your hair (porosity, build-up of product residues, hydration level)

The flat iron is the most important key to a good result. The active substances in keratin and protein are only fixed in the hair through heat. Without the right temperature and sufficient passes, the product does not work correctly — even if your hair is healthy and untreated.

This is a very important point many people do not know: many flat irons do not display the temperature shown on screen. The screen may show 230°C, while the plates in reality only reach 160 to 170°C.

The flat iron feels warm and seems hot, but the actual temperature is insufficient to fix the active substances in the hair fibre. This often happens with:

  • Cheap flat irons without accurate temperature sensors
  • Old devices whose heating elements have weakened
  • Flat irons that have been used frequently and for a long time
Our advice: Use a quality professional flat iron with ceramic or titanium plates and a reliable temperature sensor.

Every hair reacts differently. Even within the same family, hair differs per person in:

  • Thickness and structure
  • Porosity
  • History (colouring, heat, chemical treatments)
  • Balance between oil and moisture
Important: If you AND several household members get the same unsatisfactory result, the cause is often a shared factor: the same flat iron, the same water, or the same shampoo.

We recommend using a silicone-free shampoo that is low-sulfate or sulfate-free, so that the active substances can penetrate your hair. Silicones leave a layer on the hair fibre that prevents the treatment from working.

See section "Keratin & Protein — Aftercare" for detailed product recommendations.

Yes. Hard water leaves mineral deposits on the hair that significantly reduce the effectiveness of care and treatment products. If you live in a region with hard water, the following things can make a big difference:

  • Use a shower filter
  • Use a chelating shampoo (descaling shampoo) once a month to remove mineral build-up

This is a common signal of what is called Protein Overload. Protein strengthens the hair, but too much of it — without sufficient hydration — makes the hair stiff, dry and prone to breakage.

What you can do now:

  1. Pause with protein and keratin — avoid any protein treatment for at least 4 to 6 weeks.
  2. Deep moisturising care — use a deep moisturising mask 2 to 3 times a week (with ingredients such as glycerin, hyaluronic acid, aloe vera or plant oils).
  3. Gentle shampoo without sulfates.
  4. Avoid heat (flat iron, hot hairdryer) during the recovery period.
  5. Do not wash your hair too often — 2 to 3 times a week is enough.
  6. Cut split ends if needed.
The hair recovers, but it takes patience. The balance between hydration and protein is the true secret of healthy hair.

First and foremost: do not redo the treatment immediately. This worsens the damage and repairs nothing.

The right steps:

  1. Wait at least 4 to 6 weeks before applying a new keratin or protein treatment.
  2. Focus during this period on deep hydration (masks, oils, leave-in conditioners).
  3. Reduce the use of heat or stop completely.
  4. Use a sulfate- and silicone-free shampoo.
  5. For the next treatment, follow the instructions step by step, make sure your flat iron actually reaches the indicated temperature, do enough passes with the flat iron over each section, and work with thin sections.
Not sure of yourself? Then have the next treatment performed by a professional hairdresser, or consult our team before starting again.

General guidelines:

  • Keratin (smoothing treatment): wait at least 3 to 4 months between two treatments. For damaged hair, postponing 4 to 8 weeks is an absolute minimum.
  • Protein smoothing treatment: every 5 to 8 months.
  • Protein repair mask (non-smoothing): maximum once every 3 to 4 weeks.
  • Do not combine two treatments: do not do a protein treatment immediately after a keratin treatment or vice versa.
  • Damaged hair: wait longer and first repair your hair with hydration.

Listen to your hair:

  • Does it feel stiff and straw-like? Then too much protein. Stop and hydrate.
  • Does it feel limp, lifeless and without bounce? Then too much hydration. Reintroduce protein gradually.
The right frequency differs per person. When in doubt: waiting is always better than taking the risk.

Yes, in many cases this is even recommended. If you have previously treated your whole hair, in the next application it is better to only treat the new, as yet untreated regrowth. This way you avoid build-up of product on the already treated lengths.

How to do this correctly:

  • Apply the product only to the new regrowth (from about 1 to 2 cm from the scalp).
  • Avoid extra layers on the lengths that have already been treated — this weighs down the hair and makes it stiff and prone to breakage.
  • After 3 to 4 months, when the previous treatment begins to fade from the ends, you can treat the entire hair again.
Tip: Distribute the product evenly on the regrowth with a colour brush or a comb. Then dry the hair and iron it as usual.

We recommend not performing a keratin or protein treatment during pregnancy.

For any treatment during pregnancy or breastfeeding period we recommend:

  1. First contact your GP or gynaecologist.
  2. Have them review the ingredient list (INCI) of the product.
  3. Follow the medical advice of your doctor.

Ingredients can vary per product. Only a doctor can, based on your specific situation and the composition of the product, give well-founded advice.

Our recommendation: Preferably plan the treatment after delivery (and ideally also after the breastfeeding period). This way you avoid any risk and can optimally enjoy the result.

The durability depends on the type of treatment, the hair type and the aftercare:

  • Keratin treatment: on average 5 to 6 months
  • Protein treatment: on average 6 to 8 months

What influences the duration of the result?

  • Aftercare products: Use of sulfate-free shampoos significantly extends the effect.
  • Washing frequency: The more often the hair is washed, the faster the treatment washes out.
  • Swimming and sea water: Chlorine and salt break down keratin faster.
  • Hair type: Coarse or curly hair often retains the effect longer than fine hair.
  • Technique of the treatment: A correctly performed treatment logically lasts longer.
Tip: Always use sulfate-free shampoos and conditioners at home and limit contact with chlorine or sea water. This way you get the maximum out of the treatment.

Keratin & Protein — For the professional

Keratin and protein treatments are professional products that require experience, insight and technique. On our webshop we share all necessary information — composition, instructions for use and recommended hair types — but the final result is always determined by the person who applies the product.

No two hairs are alike. Only an experienced professional can, at the moment of the treatment, make the right decisions based on what he or she has in hand.

Keratin and protein are both protein treatments that smooth and repair the hair, but they work slightly differently.

  • Keratin is a specific type of protein that naturally occurs in hair (about 90% of the hair structure). A keratin treatment is mainly aimed at smoothness, frizz control and shine, and on average lasts 5 to 6 months.
  • Protein (such as tannin treatment, botox capilar or treatments on amino acid basis) also makes the hair straight and smooth, repairs the internal hair structure and gives strength back to damaged, porous or chemically treated hair. A protein treatment can last up to 6 to 8 months, depending on hair type and aftercare.
Rule of thumb: protein for deeper repair and longer durability, keratin for finishing, shine and manageability. With very damaged hair, protein (reconstruction) is often applied first and then keratin (finishing and protection).

A good hairdresser or hair expert takes into account:

  • The state of the hair — healthy, damaged, coloured, bleached or chemically treated
  • The porosity and structure of the hair fibre
  • The correct processing time, adapted to the hair type
  • The ironing technique — number of passes, section thickness and tension
  • The temperature of the flat iron — decisive for adhesion and shine
  • The preparation — correct way of washing and drying before the treatment
Our guidelines form the basis. The expertise of the professional makes the difference.

The preparation largely determines the final result. A good protocol includes:

  1. Wash the hair 2 to 3 times with a clarifying shampoo to remove all residues of silicones, styling and hard water.
  2. Do not use conditioner during this preparatory wash.
  3. Then dry the hair 80 to 100% with the hairdryer on warm setting before application.
Important: Keratin and protein only adhere optimally to clean, nearly dry hair. This is one of the most underestimated steps in the entire process.

A neat sectioning ensures even absorption and a homogeneous result:

  • Divide the head into at least 4 main sections: crown, both sides and back of the head.
  • Work in horizontal subsections of maximum 1 cm thick. The thinner the sections, the better the product penetrates.
  • Start at the bottom of the neck and work gradually upwards.
  • Keep 1 to 1.5 cm distance from the scalp to avoid irritation and residue.

For even distribution and optimal action:

  • Apply the product with a fine colour brush, not with hands.
  • Distribute with a fine comb until every hair fibre is completely covered — no dry spots.
  • Then remove the excess with a wide comb: the hair may shine wet, but should not drip.
Too much product can cause white residue, stains and stiff hair after ironing. Too little product gives an irregular or weak result.
Important note: The times below are a general standard. Always read the processing time carefully on the back of the bottle and keep in mind that this time can always vary based on the current state of the hair (porosity, damage, pre-treatments).

Always follow the manufacturer's instructions. As a general guideline:

  • Fine or damaged hair: 20 to 30 minutes
  • Normal hair: 30 to 45 minutes
  • Thick, curly or coarse hair: 45 to 60 minutes

The more porous the hair, the faster the product is absorbed. A processing time that is too long can weaken the hair instead of strengthening it.

Important note: The temperatures below are a general standard. The correct working temperature must be determined by you as the professional — hairdresser or hair expert — yourself based on the current state of the hair (thickness, porosity, damage, previous chemical treatments, moisture level). Expertise and experience weigh more heavily here than a fixed rule.

Use a professional ceramic or titanium flat iron with adjustable temperature. Guidelines:

  • Bleached or very damaged hair: 180 to 200°C
  • Coloured hair: 200 to 210°C
  • Healthy, virgin hair: 220 to 230°C
  • Thick, coarse or very curly hair: up to 230°C maximum

Pass 10 to 12 times slowly through each section. For formaldehyde-free products, more passes are often needed (sometimes 15 to 20). This is what activates the treatment and seals it in the hair fibre.

Bleached and chemically stressed hair requires extra caution:

  1. First apply 1 or 2 protein reconstruction treatments (no smoothing treatment, just a repair mask with amino acids) in the 1 to 2 weeks before the treatment.
  2. Choose a formaldehyde-free product specifically for bleached hair, based on amino acids or silk proteins.
  3. Use a lower flat iron temperature: maximum 180 to 200°C.
  4. Reduce the number of passes with the flat iron (5 to 7 instead of 10).
  5. Always do a strand test 24 to 48 hours in advance — the reaction of bleached hair is unpredictable.
Refuse the treatment if the hair feels wet elastic-spongy, breaks under light pull, or has been double-processed in the past 2 weeks. In that case, first refer to a repair regimen of several weeks.

The most common causes are:

  1. Wrong temperature of the flat iron — Too low, the keratin does not adhere; too high, it damages the hair and causes it to lose shine.
  2. Insufficient passes with the flat iron — The keratin must be correctly sealed in the hair fibre for a long-lasting effect.
  3. Shampoo not thoroughly rinsed out — Residues block the absorption of the keratin.
  4. Wrong dosages — Too much makes the hair stiff and flat; too little gives no visible result.
  5. Processing time not respected — Each hair type requires its own timing.
  6. Wrong product choice — What works on healthy hair does not automatically work on bleached or damaged hair.
  7. Incorrect preparation — The hair must be washed AND dried according to the protocol.
  8. Wrong moisture level during ironing — Too wet or too dry affects the final result.
  9. Recent chemical treatment — Colouring, bleaching or perm just before or after the keratin can disturb the result.
  10. Insufficient aftercare at home — Sulfate-containing shampoos, chlorine or sea water and washing too soon break down the effect. Clear explanation to the client is essential.
  • Keratin treatment: maximum every 3 to 4 months. Too frequent gives protein build-up (protein overload) causing the hair to become stiff and able to break.
  • Protein treatment (smoothing): every 5 to 8 months, depending on hair type and aftercare.
  • Protein repair mask (non-smoothing): every 4 to 6 weeks for damaged hair, then reduce as the hair recovers.

The health of the professional comes first. Therefore always work according to these guidelines:

  • Work in a well-ventilated room — open windows or use extraction.
  • Wear gloves during application and ironing.
  • Preferably also a face mask, especially with products containing formaldehyde or methylene glycol.
  • Avoid skin contact with the product.
  • In case of pregnancy or respiratory problems: use only formaldehyde-free products or let a colleague perform the treatment.
Always read the product insert and MSDS sheet of each specific product. Safety for yourself AND for your client remains the basis of professional work.

We stand for quality products, clear information and professional trainings. The hairdresser or hair expert brings diagnosis, technique and experience.

That combination ensures satisfied clients — but the final responsibility for execution always lies with the professional who applies the product.

Keratin & Protein — Aftercare & maintenance

The right maintenance product can extend the treatment by months:

Shampoo

  • Sulfate-free (no sodium lauryl sulfate or sodium laureth sulfate) and salt-free (no sodium chloride). Salt and sulfates break down the keratin/protein layer.
  • Look for labels such as "after keratin", "post-treatment", "sulfate-free smoothing" or "sodium-chloride free".
  • A complete line of the same brand as the treatment often works best.

Conditioner

  • Sulfate- and salt-free, rich in keratin or amino acids.
  • Apply only to the lengths and ends, not to the scalp.
  • Leave to act for 2 to 3 minutes at each washing.

Mask

  • 1 to 2 times a week a keratin or protein mask.
  • Alternate with a moisturising mask (based on argan, panthenol or hyaluronic acid) to avoid protein overload.
  • Leave to act for at least 10 to 15 minutes, possibly under a warm towel for deeper action.

Serum / oil

  • A light oil or serum based on argan, macadamia or keratin, daily on the lengths and ends (not on the root).
  • Before blow-drying or styling: always use a heat-protecting serum — even after a keratin treatment, heat protection remains necessary.
Absolutely avoid: products with sulfates, salt (NaCl), alcohol denat and cheap silicones that weigh down the hair and accelerate the breakdown of the treatment.

The order and timing between colour treatments and keratin/protein treatments are crucial for both the result and the health of the hair.

Colouring before the treatment (recommended order)

  • Wait at least 2 weeks (ideally 14 days) between the colour treatment and the keratin/protein treatment.
  • This is the preferred order: first colour, then treat. The keratin/protein layer seals the colour and ensures longer durability, more shine and less fading.
  • Always do a clarifying wash before the treatment to remove colour residues and oxidation.

Colouring after the treatment

  • Wait at least 2 to 3 weeks (ideally 3 weeks) after the keratin/protein treatment before a new colouring.
  • Colouring too early and the colour does not take evenly, the hair becomes patchy, and the treatment washes out prematurely.
  • Preferably use ammonia-free dyes or toners in this period to not further stress the hair.
Important: Keratin treatments can make the colour appear 0.5 to 1 tone lighter. Take this into account when mixing — possibly choose half a tone darker than desired.

Bleaching or decolouring after the treatment

  • Strongly discouraged within the first 3 months after the treatment. Bleaching destroys the protein layer and can break the hair.
  • If decolouring is really necessary: wait absolute minimum 3 weeks, ideally 6 to 8 weeks.
  • Then use a bleach with low volume (10 or 20 vol max) in combination with a bondbuilder (such as Olaplex, Smartbond or K18).
  • Always do a strand test 24 to 48 hours in advance.

Applying keratin or protein on decoloured hair — is it possible?

Yes, with adjustments. Decoloured hair is porous, dry and fragile — the treatment even works excellently to repair it, if performed correctly. Follow the protocol from the professional section: "How do you treat bleached or very damaged hair?"

Clear explanation to the client about the aftercare is essential for long durability:

The first 48 to 72 hours

  • Do not wash the hair.
  • Do not tie the hair: no elastics, clips or headband.
  • Do not put the hair behind the ears and create no kinks.
  • Sleep on a silk or satin pillowcase.

Ongoing maintenance

  • Always use a sulfate-free and salt-free shampoo & conditioner.
  • No swimming pool (chlorine) or salt sea water without protection for the first 2 weeks.
  • Weekly a protein or keratin mask for maintenance.
  • Use heat-protecting serum before blow-drying or styling.
  • Repeat treatment according to the advice of the professional.

After a keratin or protein treatment it is very important to always use an ammonia-free colouring. Ammonia aggressively opens the hair cuticle and breaks down the protein layer of the treatment — causing your result to disappear much faster.

What to use:

  • Ammonia-free colourings (for example based on monoethanolamine or other mild alkaline sources).
  • Demi-permanent colourings for temporary tone refresh.
  • Toners to refresh shades without stressing the hair structure.
  • Plant-based colourings (henna-free, natural formulas) for those seeking a fully mild option.

What better to avoid:

  • Colourings with ammonia.
  • Aggressive bleaching or decolouring products within the first 3 months.
  • Colourings with high volume peroxide (40 vol or more).
Tip: Preferably have the colouring performed by an experienced hairdresser who is familiar with treated hair. Also follow the advice about timing in the question "When can the hair be coloured, bleached or decoloured — before or after the treatment?" above.
