Three products that stay in the hair
Piur London Leave-in & oils holds the three Piur products that go on after the wash and stay there: Silk Halo, 4D-DEFENSE and Hydraluxe Balm. Silk Halo and 4D-DEFENSE are Home Care: your client uses them at home, after any Piur routine. Hydraluxe Balm is professional use only: it closes the Hydraluxe service in your chair, and you can also work it in on its own before styling.
Why a leave-in
The conditioner of a Piur routine is rinsed out at every wash. These three stay on the lengths, and each one says on its own pack or page what it is there for:
- Shine and discipline: Silk Halo's pack promises multidimensional shine, profound softness and absolute discipline, without residue.
- Protection between washes: 4D-DEFENSE prints heat, humidity, friction and environmental protection on its front, with no build-up and no weight, suitable for all hair types.
- Sealing the service: in Piur London's words, Hydraluxe Balm smooths the cuticle, seals in the hydration of the Hydraluxe service and helps protect against heat and humidity before styling.

- A client who wants a rinse-out step: that is the conditioner or the mask of her Home Care routine, on Piur London Home Care.
- Looking for Stabilizer? It is not a leave-in for the client. Stabilizer is a professional-only spray for use before, during and after bleaching, colouring and progressive treatments, and it sits in Piur London Professional.
- The scalp: Hydraluxe Balm goes on lengths and ends only, and a heavy hand turns the hydration underneath it into weight.
- A formula without silicones: Silk Halo lists dimethicone; 4D-DEFENSE lists polysilicone-29 and amodimethicone.
- Nut sensitivity: Hydraluxe Balm lists sweet almond oil among its actives.

Silk Halo and 4D-DEFENSE are not steps of any protocol. In Piur London's words, either one closes any routine, on any of the four Home Care ranges: Reactive Pro, Sensorial Repair, Hydraluxe and Gold Ritual, all on Piur London Home Care. Hydraluxe Balm is different: it is the closing step of the Hydraluxe service in the salon, part of Piur London Professional.

Do I apply a leave-in to wet or dry hair?
It depends on the product. 4D-DEFENSE goes on damp hair after shampooing, as its pack directs. Hydraluxe Balm goes on damp or dry lengths and ends. The Silk Halo pack does not say; in salon practice it works on dry hair as a finish, or on towel-dried lengths before the blow-dry.
How often can I use it?
4D-DEFENSE daily, after shampooing: its pack names that as the way to get the most protection. Silk Halo daily or as needed, as printed on the bottle. Hydraluxe Balm is used in the salon, at the close of each Hydraluxe service, or on its own on lengths and ends before styling.
What is the difference between a leave-in and a conditioner?
In a Piur London routine, the conditioner goes on after the shampoo and is rinsed out at every wash. A leave-in stays on the hair: 4D-DEFENSE is sprayed on damp hair and dried in, Silk Halo is glided through the lengths, and Hydraluxe Balm is never rinsed. The two Home Care finishers close the routine, after the conditioner.
Does the spray protect against heat, and up to what temperature?
4D-DEFENSE prints heat, humidity, friction and environmental protection on its front. It prints no temperature. With hot tools, salon practice is to set the tool to the lowest heat that styles the hair. Hydraluxe Balm also names heat protection without a figure; Silk Halo makes no heat claim.
Can I use the oil and the spray together, and with which Piur routine?
Piur London says either finisher closes any routine, on any of its four Home Care ranges: Reactive Pro, Sensorial Repair, Hydraluxe and Gold Ritual. 4D-DEFENSE goes on damp hair after the wash and is dried in. Silk Halo goes on the lengths whenever the finish needs it, on dry hair or towel-dried lengths.
