The BaBylissPRO SkeletonFX DLC / Titanium Replacement T-Blade - Standard Tooth 1.6 mm - 40 mm is the genuine replacement T-blade for the BaBylissPRO SkeletonFX outlining trimmer -- a 40 mm DLC / titanium blade with a standard tooth of 1.6 mm, adjustable to zero-gap. Why the blade is the part that matters

A trimmer is a motor and a blade, and the blade decides how the line looks. As the teeth wear the edge rounds off, the blade pushes hair instead of cutting it, and the line goes soft. A fresh blade brings the crispness back for a fraction of the price of a new trimmer. It runs two materials at once: titanium on the fixed blade for hardness, and DLC -- diamond-like carbon, a very hard low-friction coating -- on the moving blade. Less friction means the blade glides rather than drags.

Key features

  • Dlc / titanium blade: a titanium fixed blade paired with a DLC cutting blade -- the hard, low-friction combination.
  • Standard tooth at 1.6 mm: suited to outlining, detailing and shaping on any hair texture, including more sensitive skin.
  • Zero-gap adjustable: set as close as it safely goes, for the crispest line.
  • Wide fitment: fits FX797E and all FX7870 and FX726 models, plus any 2-hole blade system.

What to expect

Fitted and set correctly, the blade cuts cleanly from the first pass and holds a crisp edge. It is an outlining blade -- it lines, edges and details. It does not remove bulk: that is a clipper's job.

Who it is for

  • Barbers whose SkeletonFX has stopped giving a crisp line.
  • Anyone with a matching trimmer: it fits FX797E and all FX7870 and FX726 models, plus any 2-hole blade system.
  • Shops keeping a spare so a dull blade never costs a chair.

Who it is not for

  • If you need to remove length: this is an outlining blade; a clipper takes down bulk.
  • If your trimmer has a motor fault: a new blade fixes a poor cut, not a power problem.
  • If you want a different bite: the other blades cover the other depths and materials.

Professional tip

Set the zero-gap with the tool and check it against your thumbnail before the first client -- too close catches skin, too far never gives the line. Oil after every use; most blades that get replaced were dry, not worn out.

How to fit it

  1. Switch off the trimmer and unplug or remove the battery.
  2. Unscrew the old blade and lift it off, keeping the blade cushion in place.
  3. Seat the new blade on the two posts and tighten the screws evenly.
  4. Set the alignment to zero-gap with the adjustment tool.
  5. Oil along the teeth and run the trimmer briefly before you cut.
Safety: the teeth are sharp and this blade is designed to run fully exposed -- handle it by the body, keep it away from children, and never adjust the gap with the trimmer switched on. Set too close it can catch the skin.

Using it with your tools

Brush the hair out of the teeth after every client and add a few drops of clipper oil along the blade; a dry blade dulls far faster than a worn one. Pair it with the BaBylissPRO SkeletonFX Trimmer Guards when you want set cutting lengths from the same tool.

In short

  • Genuine replacement: 40 mm SkeletonFX T-blade in DLC / titanium.
  • Standard tooth at 1.6 mm: all hair textures and skin sensitivity levels.
  • Zero-gap adjustable for the crispest line.

Frequently asked questions

Which trimmers does this blade fit?

It fits FX797E and all FX7870 and FX726 models, plus any 2-hole blade system. That covers the Boost+ SkeletonFX trimmers in every finish as well as the older FX726 and FX797E models, so one blade type serves more than one tool on the station.

What is the difference between the 1.6 mm standard tooth and the 2.0 mm deep tooth?

The tooth depth changes how much hair the blade takes per pass, not how close it cuts. The 1.6 mm standard tooth suits all hair textures and is the gentler choice on sensitive skin; the 2.0 mm deep tooth bites harder, which suits thick or coarse hair and less sensitive skin. Both set to zero-gap.

Do I have to set the zero-gap myself?

Yes, and it is worth doing carefully. Fit the blade, loosen the screws slightly, align the moving blade with the fixed one using the adjustment tool, then tighten. Set too close the blade can catch the skin, so test on your own arm before a client.

Does the blade need oiling if it is a coated blade?

Yes. A coating changes how the blade wears, not whether it needs lubrication -- the two blade faces still slide against each other every stroke. A few drops along the teeth after each use keeps it cutting cleanly and running cooler.

How do I know when to replace the blade?

Replace it when the line stops coming out sharp, when the blade pulls or pushes hair rather than cutting it, or when you can see the teeth are chipped. A blade that only cuts poorly when dry usually just needs cleaning and oil first.
