The BaBylissPRO Premium SkeletonFX Trimmer Guards are a set of four clip-on guide combs that give your SkeletonFX outlining trimmer set cutting lengths. A skeleton trimmer runs bare for zero-gap lines and edge-ups; clip one of these guards on and the same tool also cuts short, even hair at 1.5, 3, 4.8 or 6 mm -- so your detailer doubles as a light all-rounder.

- Metal clip locks each guard firmly onto the blade
- Fits all SkeletonFX outlining trimmers: FX7870, FX726, FX797E
Why guards on a SkeletonFX trimmer
A SkeletonFX trimmer is built for outlining -- run bare and zero-gap for the crispest hard lines and edge-ups. That precision is only half of a cut. These guards add the other half: clip one on and the same trimmer lays down short, even hair at a set length, so you can knock back a beard, blend a hairline or clean a neckline without reaching for a second tool. Four lengths cover the close end of the range where a detailer earns its keep.
Key features
Four premium guards, numbered No. 0.5, 1, 1.5 and 2, cut at 1.5 mm, 3 mm, 4.8 mm and 6 mm. Each one has a metal clip that locks it firmly onto the blade -- no popping off mid-stroke, the usual gripe with soft plastic combs. They are shaped for the SkeletonFX blade, so they sit flush and feed hair evenly across the full blade width.
What to expect
Clip a guard on and the trimmer cuts at that exact length, edge to edge. The metal clip holds it steady through a full pass, and it pulls straight off to switch size or go back to bare-blade outlining. Same trimmer, four more jobs it can do.
Who it is for
- Barbers who want their SkeletonFX detailer to also do short bulk, beard length and blending
- Anyone who wants set-length control from 1.5 to 6 mm without a second clipper
- SkeletonFX FX7870, FX726 or FX797E owners
Who it is not for
- Full-head bulk or long lengths -- a full-size clipper with a taper lever suits that better
- Trimmers outside the FX7870 / FX726 / FX797E families
Professional tip: keep the four guards together in one pouch and work up through the lengths. Starting short and stepping longer is far easier to control than the reverse, and it keeps blends smooth.
How to use
- Switch the trimmer off.
- Line the guard up with the blade and press until the metal clip snaps home.
- Check it is seated flush across the full width.
- Cut with light, even passes, moving against the direction of growth.
- Pull the guard straight off to change size or return to bare-blade lines.
Care and maintenance
Rinse or brush the guards clean after use and let them dry before boxing them. Keep the set of four together so every length is always to hand. The guards need no oil -- only the blade does. This set is part of the BaBylissPRO SkeletonFX accessory range; the full range of blades and covers is on the BaBylissPRO accessories page.

Frequently asked questions
Which trimmers do these guards fit?
They fit all BaBylissPRO SkeletonFX outlining trimmers -- the FX7870, FX726 and FX797E families, which include the Boost+ gold, black and chameleon trimmers and the GunSteel. They do not fit clippers or foil shavers.
What length does each guard cut?
There are four: guard No. 0.5 cuts at 1.5 mm, No. 1 at 3 mm, No. 1.5 at 4.8 mm and No. 2 at 6 mm. Together they cover the short end of the range for beard work, blending and short bulk.
Will the guards stay on the blade?
Yes. Each guard has a metal clip that locks it firmly onto the blade, so it holds through a full pass instead of popping off the way soft plastic combs tend to.
Can I still outline with the trimmer?
Yes. Pull the guard straight off and the trimmer runs bare and zero-gap again for hard lines and edge-ups. The guards simply add set cutting lengths on top of what the trimmer already does.
