The plates are mounted so they move slightly, or float, as you close them. Can it curl and wave, or does it only straighten?
It does both. The housing is convex and elliptical, so as well as straightening you can turn your wrist as you glide to shape curls and waves with the same iron. It is a straightener first, but the curved design makes it a genuine one-iron styling kit.
Which temperature should I use for my hair?
Start low and work up. Fine, fragile or coloured hair usually sits well at the lower settings, medium hair in the middle, and thick or coarse hair at the higher end, up to 230°C. Use the lowest setting that gives you the result you want -- more heat is not always better for the hair.
Can I use it on wet or damp hair?
No. Straighten only dry, brushed hair. Using a hot iron on wet hair can damage it and gives a poor result. Dry and prep the hair first, then style in sections.
Can I use it abroad on holiday?
This model is built for 230 V, 50 Hz mains, so it is not a dual-voltage travel iron. In regions on a different mains voltage a simple plug adapter is not enough, and using it on the wrong voltage can damage the tool. If you travel often, choose a straightener rated for worldwide voltage.
How do I clean the plates?
Switch off and let it cool completely first. Then wipe the plates with a soft, dry or slightly damp cloth to lift off product build-up. Do not use abrasives, solvents or scouring pads, which can scratch the plate surface, and never run the tool under water.
Does it switch off by itself if I forget?
Yes. It has an automatic shut-off, so it powers down on its own if it is left on. Even so, switch it off at the plug and rest it on the silicone mat or its stand to cool whenever you step away.
