The BaBylissPRO ELIPSIS3000 31mm x 110mm Styler (BAB3000EPE) is a professional straightener built around EP Technology 5.0 floating plates, 31 x 110 mm, on a SUS304 stainless-steel body that resists corrosion and warping. The floating plates glide through each section for a smooth finish, while the convex, elliptical housing lets you move from a poker-straight look to soft curls and waves with the same tool. A HiDensity Dual Ceramic heating system with Advanced Heat Management keeps the temperature even across the plates, and the IonMultiplier adds a high concentration of ions to help cut frizz and lift shine.

Why the ELIPSIS3000 works in the salon
Behind the chair you need one tool that keeps up with every request, and the ELIPSIS3000 is built for that. The EP Technology 5.0 floating plates give a little on each pass, so they stay in contact with the hair and glide from root to tip without dragging, while the HiDensity Dual Ceramic heating holds a steady temperature across the whole plate rather than leaving hot and cold spots. Because the housing is convex and elliptical, the same iron takes a section poker-straight or bends it into a curl or a soft wave, so you switch looks without switching tools. The IonMultiplier lays down a high concentration of ions to smooth flyaways and add shine, and the SUS304 stainless-steel body is made to resist corrosion and warping through long salon days. The LED display, thumb-rest, stand and locking function keep it easy to read, hold and store between clients.

- 2.70 m swivel cord and automatic shut-off
What to expect in the hand
Pick it up and the stainless-steel body feels solid and balanced, with the silicone-tipped ends staying cool enough to guide. The floating plates move slightly as you close them, so they follow the hair and glide rather than snag, and the elliptical edge sits ready whenever you want to turn a section into a curl. The LED display shows the temperature you have set, and the heat holds steady from the first section to the last. It is a straightener first, but the curved design means it doubles as a curling and waving tool, which is what makes it a genuine one-iron kit.
Who it is for
- Stylists who want one iron for straightening, curls and waves
- Salons that need a durable, even-heat straightener for back-to-back clients
- Anyone with frizzy or thick hair who wants a smooth, high-shine finish
- Advanced home users stepping up to a professional-grade styler
Who it is not for
- Anyone who only ever wants tight, defined curls -- a dedicated curling wand shapes those better
- Use on wet hair -- this is a dry-hair styling tool
- Travellers who need a dual-voltage iron -- this model runs on 230 V, 50 Hz mains
Professional tip
Work in small, clean sections and keep the iron gliding: keep the iron gliding and never pause on one spot, taking one smooth pass from root to tip. For a curl or a wave, turn your wrist a quarter-turn as you glide and let the elliptical edge shape the bend -- the floating plates keep contact through the turn, so the curve stays even.
How to use it
- Start on dry, brushed hair -- never straighten wet hair
- Switch on and choose your temperature: lower for fine or coloured hair, higher for thick or coarse hair
- Wait for the LED display to show the set temperature is reached
- Work in small sections, closing the plates near the roots and gliding smoothly to the ends in one pass
- For curls or waves, turn your wrist as you glide and let the elliptical edge shape the bend
- Switch off, close the locking function and rest it on its stand or the silicone mat to cool
Care and maintenance
Switch the styler off and let it cool fully, then wipe the plates with a soft, dry or barely damp cloth -- avoid abrasives and harsh cleaners, which can scratch the plate surface. Store it locked, on its stand or rolled in the silicone heat mat, with the cord loosely coiled rather than wrapped tight. Frequently asked questions
What are EP Technology 5.0 floating plates, and why do they matter?
The plates are mounted so they move slightly, or float, as you close them. That keeps them in even contact with the hair and lets them glide from root to tip instead of catching, which gives a smoother pass and a more consistent finish. Combined with the HiDensity Dual Ceramic heating, the temperature stays even across the whole plate.
Can it curl and wave, or does it only straighten?
It does both. The housing is convex and elliptical, so as well as straightening you can turn your wrist as you glide to shape curls and waves with the same iron. It is a straightener first, but the curved design makes it a genuine one-iron styling kit.
Which temperature should I use for my hair?
Start low and work up. Fine, fragile or coloured hair usually sits well at the lower settings, medium hair in the middle, and thick or coarse hair at the higher end, up to 230°C. Use the lowest setting that gives you the result you want -- more heat is not always better for the hair.
Can I use it on wet or damp hair?
No. Straighten only dry, brushed hair. Using a hot iron on wet hair can damage it and gives a poor result. Dry and prep the hair first, then style in sections.
Can I use it abroad on holiday?
This model is built for 230 V, 50 Hz mains, so it is not a dual-voltage travel iron. In regions on a different mains voltage a simple plug adapter is not enough, and using it on the wrong voltage can damage the tool. If you travel often, choose a straightener rated for worldwide voltage.
How do I clean the plates?
Switch off and let it cool completely first. Then wipe the plates with a soft, dry or slightly damp cloth to lift off product build-up. Do not use abrasives, solvents or scouring pads, which can scratch the plate surface, and never run the tool under water.
Does it switch off by itself if I forget?
Yes. It has an automatic shut-off, so it powers down on its own if it is left on. Even so, switch it off at the plug and rest it on the silicone mat or its stand to cool whenever you step away.
