The JRL 3000C Compact Cordless Hair Clipper - Fade Blade Black is a compact cordless clipper whose blade lever locks at five set levels, from 0,25 to 3 mm. Why barbers reach for it

A full-size clipper is the machine you reach for first, but it is not always the machine you want in your hand for the last twenty minutes of a cut. The 3000C is JRL's compact answer: the same cordless format in a smaller, lighter body you can steer with your fingertips rather than your wrist. The five lock levels matter more here than on a big machine. They let you set an exact height and come back to it after a comb change, without hunting for it again.

Key features

  • Brushless motor rated at 7800 RPM, running quietly enough to talk over
  • Blade lever with five lock levels, adjustable from 0,25 to 3 mm and designed for a zero-gap setting
  • The JRL Fade Blade is the version JRL pairs with the coloured housings, cut for clean, even fades and close detail work.
  • Six guide combs, 1,5 mm / 3 mm / 4,5 mm / 6 mm / 10 mm / 13 mm, with a charging stand in the box
  • LED indicator on the front for runtime and charge, and 100-240V input for use on any mains supply

What to expect

Out of the box it charges in 2 hours and runs for up to 2 hours cordless. That covers a normal service day for a machine used in bursts rather than all day. The lever moves between the five lock levels with a positive stop at each one, so a height you set in the morning is a height you can return to. The blade is designed to take a zero-gap setting at the shortest end of the 0,25 mm range. The adjustment and protection tool for that is in the box.

Who it is for

  • Barbers who want a compact cordless second machine for fade work, blending and lineups
  • Stylists working detail and outline where a full-size clipper feels bulky in the hand
  • Anyone who wants a set height they can lock, leave and come back to mid-cut

Who it is not for

  • Barbers whose main job is bulk removal and taper cutting - the white housing carries the JRL Taper Blade instead
  • Barbers who need more than 2 hours of continuous cordless running between charges
  • Anyone looking for a corded machine - the 3000C is cordless, with a charging stand rather than a cord for cutting

Professional tip

Set the lever before the client sits down, not after. Run through the five lock levels dry, pick the one you want to open on, and leave it there. It sounds small. But the whole reason for a locking lever is that you stop making that decision mid-cut, and the fastest barbers are the ones deciding least with a running machine in hand.

How to use it

  1. Charge it first. Two hours on the stand brings it to a full charge, and the LED on the front reports where it is.
  2. Set the lever. Work through the five lock levels and stop at the height you want, anywhere from 0,25 to 3 mm.
  3. Fit a comb if you need one. Six are supplied, 1,5 mm through 13 mm, and each one clips over the blade.
  4. Cut with the weight, not against it. The body is compact, so guide it with your fingers rather than driving it from the wrist.
  5. Brush the blade between clients. The cleaning brush is in the box, and clearing the teeth takes a few seconds.
  6. Oil the blade, then return it to the stand. A drop across the teeth after cleaning, run it briefly, wipe the excess and set it back on the charging stand.

Safety: this is a mains-charged appliance with an exposed cutting blade. Keep it and its adapter away from water and never use it near a filled basin, bath or shower. Charge it only with the supplied adapter and stand. Check the blade for damaged or bent teeth before every use and stop using it if the housing, adapter or cable is damaged. Keep it out of reach of children.

Care and maintenance

Brush the cut hair out of the teeth after every client, and oil the blade regularly. A blade that runs dry gets hot and dulls early, and the lubricating oil is supplied for exactly this. Use the supplied adjustment and protection tool to reset the blade if it shifts, and the screwdriver for the fixing screws. Do not rinse the machine under a tap: no water rating is printed on it. If something needs attention beyond cleaning, our service and repairs team can look at it.

Frequently asked questions

Which blade does this colourway have, and what is the difference

This one carries the JRL Fade Blade. On the JRL 3000C, the white housing is supplied with the Taper Blade and the black, red and blue housings with the Fade Blade. The motor, the lever, the combs and the runtime are the same across all four - the blade is the difference, and it is fixed per colourway rather than something you switch.

Can this clipper be zero-gapped

Yes. JRL states on the box that the blade is designed for a zero-gap setting, with the cutting height adjustable from 0,25 to 3 mm, and the adjustment and protection tool is supplied. Work in small movements and check the blade against the light rather than against your skin.

How long does it run, and how long does it take to charge

Up to 2 hours of cordless running, from a 2 hour charge. The LED indicator on the front shows runtime and charge state, so you can see where it stands before a client rather than during one.

What is in the box

The clipper, a charging stand, six guide combs at 1,5 mm, 3 mm, 4,5 mm, 6 mm, 10 mm and 13 mm, a cleaning brush, the blade adjustment and protection tool, lubricating oil, a mains adapter and a screwdriver.

Will it work abroad

The clipper's adapter is rated 100-240V, 50/60Hz, so it covers both European and North American mains. You need the right plug adapter for the socket, but not a voltage converter. Check the rating on the adapter you are travelling with, since that is the part that has to match.

How do I keep the blade in good order

Brush the hair out of the teeth after every client, and oil the blade regularly with the lubricating oil supplied. A dry blade runs hot and loses its edge sooner. Do not rinse the machine under a tap - no water rating is printed on it, so it is a dry-clean tool.
