Salvatore Tanino Therapy Blond Hair Shampoo Step 1 (300ml) is the daily toning blond hair shampoo, for bleached and grey hair too. The gentle formula carries violet and blue micro-pigments, silk amino acids and panthenol. The list carries no formaldehyde, no formaldehyde releaser and no glyoxylic acid. Why this shampoo

Lightened hair drifts warm because yellow and orange creep back as colour fades. Cool pigment sits opposite those on the colour wheel, so a pigment wash cancels the warmth and holds the tone. Salvatore's own label is plain: everyday use for coloured, lightened and grey hair, with micro-pigments that counter the yellow and slow fading. Key ingredients

Sodium laureth sulfate, cocamide and cocamidopropyl betaine form the cleansing base. The cool micro-pigments (CI 60730) do the toning, while silk amino acids and panthenol soften and a botanical extract of acorus, luffa and green tea sits alongside. Cooler, cleaner blonde from the first washes, with the yellow edge pulled back rather than bleached out. What we tell clients is simple. This shampoo carries the tone; the mask holds it longer. Used two or three times a week, a brassy cast settles; used every wash, the cool goes deeper.

Professional tip

The mistake we see most is a purple shampoo left sitting like a mask. On very light or porous hair the pigment can grab unevenly, so keep your shampoo moving and short. Salvatore's directions say it plainly: distribute from the length to the tips, without rubbing the fiber. Work the lather through with your fingers, rinse, and leave the timing to the mask, which is built to hold the tone. On a very warm week, wash a little more often rather than leaving it on longer.

How to use

Use it as the first of two steps, as often as your tone needs, from a couple of washes a week to every wash. Rinse with cool or warm water; the pigment rinses clean and your tone stays.

The order matters because the shampoo lays the cool base and the mask then times the depth. A small amount is the printed quantity, so a 300 ml bottle lasts a good while.

Wet and apply. On wet hair, apply a small amount of the shampoo and massage gently, because the scalp needs the lather, not the lengths the friction.
Draw it down. Distribute it from the lengths to the ends without rubbing, so the pigment lands evenly.
Rinse and repeat. Rinse until the water runs clear, and repeat once for a stronger tone, because a second pass on clean hair deposits a little more cool.
Squeeze and follow on. Press the excess water out with your hands and go straight to Step 2, where the mask holds the tone.

External use only. Avoid the eyes and rinse with running water if it happens. Keep the bottle closed, below 40 degrees and out of sunlight, and out of reach of children and pets. If irritation occurs, stop and seek advice. Declared allergens: linalool, hexyl cinnamal, amyl cinnamal, geraniol.

Frequently asked questions

Is the shampoo formaldehyde-free?

Yes. Formaldehyde, its releasers and glyoxylic acid are all absent from the ingredient list. It is a toning shampoo; what it leaves in the hair is a little cool pigment, silk and panthenol, with an acid to hold the pH.

How often should I use it?

From two washes a week up to every wash, depending on how warm it goes. On brassy blonde, use it more often rather than leaving it on longer. If the tone gets too cool, ease off to once or twice a week and the warmth comes back.

Will it stain my hair?

Used as a wash, no. The pigment is light and rinses with the lather. On very porous or platinum hair it can grab if left to sit, so keep the shampoo moving and short, and let the mask, which is built for it, do the timed toning.

Does the shampoo contain sulfates?

Yes. It cleans with sodium laureth sulfate, so it lathers and rinses clean without leaving a film the pigment would sit on unevenly. The mask itself has no sulfates. A client who needs a wash without sulfates can keep the mask and pair it with a gentler shampoo.

How long does the bottle keep?

Three years from manufacture and 12 months after opening. The lot and the dates are printed on the bottle. Keep it closed and below 40 degrees, out of direct sun so the pigment stays true.
