Why this set
A cut in the chair runs in a fixed order, and this set follows it. A foil shaver works on hair that is already short, so the length work always comes first and the shaver finishes what the other machine has brought down. The outline stays with the trimmer you already work with. Buying the machines together puts that sequence on one station in one order.
Who it is for
- Barbers doing soft-line and longer-length fades, tapers and clipper-over-comb - the clipper's pack lists Soft-Line Fading and Seamless Blends, Longer Length Fading and Tapering and Clipper Over Comb Techniques under DESIGNED FOR
- Shops that offer head shaves or skin-level work on the neck and around the outline, finished with the shaver as the last pass
Who it is not for
- Outlines, line-ups and beard detail - that is a trimmer's job
- Taking long stubble or a full beard straight down with the shaver - bring it down with the clipper or trimmer first
Professional tip
Let the clipper's blade do the blend: open the lever in small steps between passes and flick out at the end of each stroke; keep its two guards for the length above the fade.
How to use
- Before the first client, brush the blade clean and oil it with clipper oil. Check that the shaver's foil is seated and has no dent or tear.
- With the machine off, check that the moving blade sits behind the edge of the fixed blade before it touches skin.
- Take the bulk with the clipper on one of its two guards or over the comb, against the growth; then blend by moving the lever between passes.
- Finish with the shaver on hair that is already short: stretch the skin, hold the head flat against it and work in short, overlapping passes with light pressure.
- Switch everything off before you put the machines down.
Care and maintenance
After each client, switch off and brush the hair from the teeth and around the blades with a soft, dry brush, and wipe the housings with a dry cloth. Clean the shaver the same way, dry, with its cleaning brush. At the end of the day, and whenever a blade starts to drag, put a few drops of clipper oil across the teeth, run it for a few seconds and wipe off the excess. Brush the hair out of the shaver's foil and cutters without pressing on the foil, and replace the foil and the cutter bars when the foil is damaged or the cut starts to drag. Clean everything dry: never rinse a machine under the tap or put it in liquid.
