Which Ônix Liss B.TOX should you choose?

One question decides it: is there a yellow cast to deal with? If there is, the Matizador is the tub you want, because it is the only one in the range carrying a violet pigment. If there is not, you are choosing on texture and condition instead, and the Bio Performance is where to start.

The Premium does the same work as the standard tub, with two things that make a busy day easier. It is the only tub in the range that prints its own pause time on the pack, 20 to 30 minutes, so the processing time is settled before you start rather than judged by eye. And it is the only one carrying tocopheryl acetate, a stable form of vitamin E. Choose it when you are running appointments back to back, or when you want a house standard your whole team follows the same way.

Ônix Liss B.TOX Matizador, for blondes and greys

The Matizador is the range's toning tub, and the only one with a violet pigment on the ingredient list: Acid Violet 43, a permitted EU cosmetic colourant listed at entry 90 of Annex IV to Regulation (EC) No 1223/2009. Violet sits opposite yellow on the colour wheel, which is why it is what the trade reaches for against a brassy cast.

What makes it efficient in the chair is that it tones and conditions in one step. A blonde who is dry and going warm does not need two services: this covers both. Use it on blonde, bleached, highlighted or grey hair, and patch test as you would with any direct dye.

The SCCS is of the opinion that the use of Acid Violet 43 as a non-oxidative hair dye with a maximum on head concentration of 0.5% active dye does not pose a risk to the health of the consumer. A sensitising potential cannot be excluded.

How to get the best result

Three things separate a good result from a very good one, and none of them is the tub you picked.

Start on clean hair
Hard water and product build-up sit on the fibre and blunt the finish. Where your water is hard, or the client has been using a lot of silicone-heavy styling, a chelating step before the treatment makes a visible difference to the shine you get out the other side.
Work to a timing you trust
The Premium prints 20 to 30 minutes on the pack, which is the easiest way to keep a team consistent. With the other tubs, set your own house protocol and hold everyone to it, so the result a client gets does not depend on who is on the floor that day.
Dry it down properly
These treatments reward a proper blow-dry. The smoother you finish the cuticle at the basin and under the dryer, the more shine the client walks out with and the better the result photographs.
Send the right home care out
Aftercare decides how long the client keeps the result. A gentle shampoo and a heat protectant hold it; hot water and daily irons shorten it. Book the rebook before she leaves.

Is the Trio worth it over a single tub?

Take the Trio if you genuinely run all three services. It puts the Nano ReducSystem, the Bio Performance and the Matizador together at 3 x 1000 g, which suits a salon with a mixed column: bulk-reduction clients, conditioning clients and blondes needing toning, all in the same week. If your book leans heavily towards one of the three, single tubs are the better buy and your stock turns faster.
