Why a mixed roller set

One roller size gives you one kind of curl. This base holds three, so a single heating cycle hands you three diameters to work with. BaBylissPRO keeps the logic simple: smaller rollers for tighter curls, larger ones for looser, bouncy curls. BaBylissPRO pairs the medium rollers with more defined curls and the large ones with soft waves. We'd put the large rollers on the crown and top, where lift shows first, and save the small ones for the nape and the face frame.

Key features

  • Three sizes, colour-coded - each size has its own colour, so you reach for the right roller without measuring it by eye.
  • Velvet over ceramic - BaBylissPRO coats the rollers in ceramic to help them keep their heat longer, with a soft velvet surface against the hair.
  • Heat ready dot - one roller carries a red dot that turns white once every roller is at temperature, after 5 minutes.
  • A working window - out of the base, the rollers stay warm for approximately 15 minutes.
  • A fixing for every roller - 20 colour-coded metal pins and 20 butterfly clips come with the set.
  • Simple controls - an on/off switch with an indicator light, and a cord that wraps around the base for storage.

What to expect at the chair

All 20 rollers come up to temperature together, so plan your sections before you switch on. Hair that curls easily sets in a few minutes, while thicker, more resistant hair can need 10 minutes or longer. The curl is still soft when the rollers come out. Give it a few minutes to cool before you brush it through, and the shape settles. The rollers cool as you work through the head, so we start with the zones that need the most hold and finish with the softer areas.

Who it is for

  • Stylists doing roller sets, volume finishes and occasion hair built on a set.
  • Salons that want three curl sizes from one base instead of three separate tools.
  • Bridal and event stylists who set the hair early and brush it out at the end of the appointment.
  • Experienced home users who already set their own hair and want a full-size set.

Who it is not for

  • Anyone planning to use it abroad on lower-voltage mains - the base is single voltage.
  • Anyone who wants to dial the heat up or down - there is no temperature setting.
  • Stylists after one very tight curl size all over the head - this set is built around variety.

Professional tip

The mistake we see most is lifting the lid to test a roller. BaBylissPRO asks for the lid to stay closed until the set is ready. So watch the dot, not the clock, and start winding as soon as it turns white. Work from the crown down and keep the small rollers for last. Our rule for fine hair is the shortest time that still gives you the bend.

How to use

  1. Place the base on a level, heat-proof surface and keep the lid closed.
  2. Switch on and wait for the red dot on the ready roller to turn white.
  3. Comb the hair and take a section the width of a roller, held at a right angle to the head.
  4. Wind from the ends to the root, keeping the hair taut and the roller at a right angle to the scalp so the curl forms evenly.
  5. Fix each roller with a butterfly clip as close to the head as you can.
  6. Leave the rollers in for less time for a loose curl and longer for a tighter one, and switch the base off once every roller is in.
  7. Take the rollers out gently, let the curls cool for a few minutes, then comb or brush into shape.
Safety: The base is CE marked and built for 230V~ 50Hz mains only. Keep a roller on every heating post while the set heats, and keep the lid closed until the dot has turned white. The rollers and metal parts get hot, so keep them away from the face and neck and do not touch the metal parts during use. Never put the base in water, and unplug it before cleaning.

Care and maintenance

Treat the rollers as the washable part and the base as the electrical part. The rollers can be soaked and rinsed, while the base only takes a slightly damp cloth once it is unplugged. Store the set with the lid on to keep dust out, with the cord wrapped around the base. To keep sections tidy while you wind, have the BaBylissPRO Croco Clips X6 close by.

In short

  • 20 heated rollers in three sizes, heated together in one base.
  • Velvet covering over a ceramic coating.
  • A ready dot that turns white when the set is at temperature.
  • 230V mains only, with a 1-year warranty.

Frequently asked questions

Can I use these hot rollers abroad, for example in the US, with a plug adapter?

Only where the mains supply is 230V~ 50Hz. The base is single voltage, and a plug adapter changes the shape of the plug, not the voltage. On lower-voltage mains the set is not suitable, even with an adapter.

Can I lift the lid to check whether the rollers are hot?

No, keep it closed until the set is ready. One roller carries a red dot that turns white when every roller is at temperature, which takes 5 minutes. The dot tells you when to open the lid.

Can I heat just a few rollers, say only the large ones?

Load the full set every time. While the base heats up, each heating post must have a roller on it. You still choose which sizes go into the hair, and the rest simply stay in the base.

How long should I leave the rollers in?

It depends on the hair and the curl you want. Hair that curls easily needs only a few minutes, while thicker, more resistant hair can take 10 minutes or longer. The shorter the time, the looser the curl.

Is 120°C too hot for fine or bleached hair?

The temperature is fixed at 120°C, so time is the setting you control. On fine, bleached or fragile hair we start with the shortest time that gives a bend and check one section before winding the rest. If the hair is in poor condition, a roller set may not be the right service that day.

Are 20 rollers enough for long, thick hair?

Often, but not always in one round. The set holds 20 rollers in three sizes. On long, thick hair we tend to work in two rounds. We set the crown and top first, then put the rollers back in the base to reheat before doing the lengths.

How do I clean the velvet rollers?

Soak them in warm soapy water for a few moments, then rinse them in clear water and shake them out. Let them dry for 1 to 2 hours before the next use. The base itself never goes in water.
