Piur London Stabilizer (500 ml) is a professional spray for the moments when a chemical service is the appointment. The bottle names them: before, during and after bleaching, colouring and progressive treatments. It is sprayed 2 to 3 times through the lengths, strand by strand, and massaged in to distribute, and the bottle describes it as stabilising and protecting the hair fibre during alkaline chemical processes.

At a glance
  • What it is: Leave-in spray, 5-Moment Protection System, as printed on the bottle
  • When it is used: Before, during and after bleaching, colouring and progressive treatments
  • Key ingredients: Conditioning agents, glycolic acid, coconut oil, glycerin, trehalose, plant proteins, amino acids
  • Dosage: 2 to 3 sprays on lengths and ends, strand by strand
  • Format: 500 ml spray; 12 months after opening

Why a spray that works inside other services

Stabilizer belongs to no single protocol: it goes with the chemical service already on the trolley. The bottle calls it a technical safety protocol and prints its 5-Moment Protection System on the front, with three named technologies, Filcortex® for the internal structure, Osmotic Shield® for protection during chemical stress and Seaplex®. None of those names appears on the ingredient list, so we name what does: conditioning agents, glycolic acid, coconut oil, humectants, rice bran and soy proteins and a run of free amino acids. What you control is the dose and where it goes: a few sprays, strand by strand, lengths and ends.

Key ingredients

  • Stearamidopropyl dimethylamine and dicetyldimonium chloride: second and fifth on the list, conditioning agents.
  • Glycolic acid: sixth on the list.
  • Cocos nucifera (coconut) oil, glycerin and trehalose: seventh, eighth and eleventh.
  • Amodimethicone and bis-cetearyl amodimethicone: conditioning silicones, 14th and 15th.
  • Crambe abyssinica seed oil: Abyssinian oil, 18th.
  • Hydrolyzed rice bran and soy protein, with free amino acids: further down the list.

What to expect

Lengths that feel conditioned rather than rough once the chemical service is rinsed. It makes no promise about how the colour or the lift itself turns out.

Who it is for

  • Lengths and ends going through bleaching, colouring or a progressive treatment
  • Colourists who want one protective step across every chemical service
  • Professional use only, as printed

Who it is not for

  • Home use: the bottle states professional use only
  • Anyone sensitive to hexyl cinnamal, limonene, linalool, benzyl salicylate, coumarin or citronellol, all printed on the bottle
  • A replacement for the rules of the chemical process it is used in

Professional tip

On a bleach service, keep it on the lengths that have been through bleach before. That fibre carries the most history.

How to use

Two ways to work it: the directions printed on the bottle, and the way we run it in the salon, with the figures left to Method A.

Method A: manufacturer method

  1. Use before, during and after bleaching, colouring and progressive treatments.
  2. Spray 2 to 3 times on lengths and ends, strand by strand.
  3. Massage gently to distribute.

Method B: the Brazilian method

  1. Read the service first: Stabilizer goes on lengths going through alkaline chemistry. Salon practice, not a step printed on this bottle.
  2. Work in the service's own sections, strand by strand: the printed number of sprays on lengths and ends, then massage gently to distribute.
  3. Keep it off the scalp: lengths and ends only.
  4. Then carry on with the chemical service exactly as its own label says: timings, developer, processing. Stabilizer adds to the service; it changes none of its rules.
  5. Before, during or after: which of the three moments is the stylist's call per service.
  6. Ventilate the room.
Safety: For professional use only. Avoid contact with eyes and skin; rinse immediately if contact occurs. Ensure adequate ventilation. In case of allergic reaction, discontinue use and consult a dermatologist. Contains hexyl cinnamal, limonene, linalool, benzyl salicylate, coumarin and citronellol.

Where it fits in the Piur London range

Stabilizer sits in the Sensorial Repair line but is not a step of the S.P.R. protocol, whose four products are also sold as the S.P.R. Full Protocol kit. Mask Therapy is the line's ten-minute mask. For smoothing on lightened hair, Reactive Pro Smooth Therapy is the service. All of it sits in Piur London Professional.

Frequently asked questions

When is Stabilizer used?

Before, during and after bleaching, colouring and progressive treatments, as printed on the bottle.

Can it be used with colour or bleach?

Yes. Bleaching and colouring are two of the services the bottle names, alongside progressive treatments.

Is it formaldehyde-free and vegan?

Its complete ingredient list carries no formaldehyde and no formaldehyde-releasing preservative. The bottle carries no vegan mark, so we do not present it as vegan.

How long does an opened bottle keep?

12 months after opening, as the symbol on the bottle shows.

Does it need a strand test?

Run the strand test the chemical service itself calls for, with Stabilizer applied the way you will use it. That is salon practice.
