Why this set
A cut in the chair runs in a fixed order, and this set follows it. A foil shaver works on hair that is already short, so the length work always comes first and the shaver finishes what the other machine has brought down. Professional tip
Work the outline with the trimmer's blade flat and the skin stretched, and use its guards for blending beard length back into the line rather than for bulk.
How to use
- Before the first client, brush the blade clean and oil it with clipper oil. Check that the shaver's foil is seated and has no dent or tear.
- With the machine off, check that the moving blade sits behind the edge of the fixed blade before it touches skin.
- With the trimmer, clip on a guard for beard length or work without one for the outline; stretch the skin and set the line with light pressure.
- Finish with the shaver on hair that is already short: stretch the skin, hold the head flat against it and work in short, overlapping passes with light pressure.
- Switch everything off before you put the machines down.
Care and maintenance
After each client, switch off and brush the hair from the teeth and around the blades with a soft, dry brush, and wipe the housings with a dry cloth. Clean the shaver the same way, dry, with its cleaning brush. From time to time, with the trimmer off, take its blade off and brush out the hair underneath before you refit it; check it sits firmly before it touches skin. At the end of the day, and whenever a blade starts to drag, put a few drops of clipper oil across the teeth, run it for a few seconds and wipe off the excess. Brush the hair out of the shaver's foil and cutters without pressing on the foil, and replace the foil and the cutter bars when the foil is damaged or the cut starts to drag. Clean everything dry: never rinse a machine under the tap or put it in liquid.
