The Wahl Beret Stealth is Wahl Professional's slim cord/cordless trimmer for the outline, the beard line and detail work. WAHL sums up its job in one line: “Designed for outlines, detail work and contours - cuts very close to the skin”. The blade comes off: it is a detachable, chrome-plated blade, 32.5 mm wide. It runs up to 75 min on a lithium-ion battery.

Why the Beret Stealth

A cut in the chair runs in a fixed order: the clipper takes the bulk and the taper, the trimmer sets the outline and the beard line, and the foil shaver finishes. Three things fit this trimmer to the job: a body WAHL calls “Super-slim”, a blade that comes off for cleaning, and short guides for blending the beard into the line. We would put it on the station of a barber who lines up all day and likes to clean underneath the blade.

Who it is not for

Professional tip

Work the outline with the blade flat and the skin stretched with your free hand. Use the guides to blend beard length back into the line, never for bulk. Our rule at the chair is simple: the guide blends, the bare blade draws the line.

Safety: This trimmer is made to cut close to the skin, so keep the pressure light. Switch it off before you change a guide or take the blade off, and unplug it before you clean it. After refitting the blade, check that it sits firmly before it touches skin. Keep it dry: never put it in water or rinse the trimmer or the blade under the tap, and brush it clean dry. Keep it, its cord and whatever it charges on away from wet surfaces at the station. The blades may get hot after long use. Use it only with the power supply that came with it and with no attachment WAHL does not specify. Never use another cord with the charging stand. Do not wind the cord round the trimmer. Never use it with a damaged or broken blade. Switch it off before you put it away. Charge, use and store it at 10–40 °C, out of direct sunlight. The battery is not replaceable: do not try to remove it. Children aged 14 and over may use it only with supervision or instruction.

Care and maintenance

After each client, switch off and brush the loose hair from the housing and the blade with a dry brush. From time to time, with the trimmer off, take the blade off and brush out the hair underneath before you refit it. Oil the blade often, with Wahl clipper oil only: one drop in the centre of the moving top blade and one on each end, then switch the trimmer on to spread it and wipe off the excess. Every so often, oil the heel of the blade too. Wipe the housing only with a soft, slightly damp cloth, never with solvents, bleach, benzene or thinner. If it cuts worse despite regular cleaning and oiling, the blade set needs replacing. The Wahl Special Blade Oil 200ml is the bottle for the station; the Wahl Oil Tube 10ml is the tube for your case.

Frequently asked questions

Can the trimmer be used with the cord as well as without?

Yes. It is a cord/cordless trimmer on a lithium-ion battery, with an input of 100-240 V~50-60 Hz.

How long does the trimmer run on a charge?

Up to 75 min on its lithium-ion battery.

Can the blade be taken off?

Yes, the blade is detachable. Switch the trimmer off before you take it off, brush out the hair underneath, and check that the blade sits firmly after you refit it.

What is the blade made of, and how wide is it?

It is chrome-plated and 32.5 mm wide. WAHL describes it as “High-precision, quick detach chrome-plated BLADES”.

Which guides come with the trimmer?

Guides of 3 mm, 6 mm, 10 mm and 13 mm. Use them to blend beard length back into the line, and work without one for the outline itself.

What is the trimmer designed for?

In WAHL's words: “Designed for outlines, detail work and contours - cuts very close to the skin”. Taking the bulk off is a clipper's job, and a skin-smooth head shave is a foil shaver's.

How do I clean and oil the trimmer?

Switch it off and unplug it. After each client, brush the loose hair from the housing and the blade with a dry brush, and from time to time take the blade off and brush out underneath. Oil the blade often with Wahl clipper oil: one drop in the centre of the moving top blade and one on each end, run it briefly and wipe off the excess. Wipe the housing only with a soft, slightly damp cloth, and never rinse it under the tap.
