Wahl Set: 5-Star Vapor + Hi-Viz Trimmer is a set of two machines we put together ourselves: the 5-Star Vapor clipper and the 5-Star Hi-Viz trimmer. The Vapor cuts from 0.5 to 1.2 mm on an 8000 RPM brushless motor; the trimmer runs at 7200 RPM on a rotary motor. Both adjust to zero-gap.

What is in the set

We put this set together ourselves. It is not a WAHL carton.

Why these two

This is where the whole point of the set sits: the two machines do the work of a fade one after the other. The clipper takes the bulk off and blends, down to 0.5 mm; the trimmer, with its T-shape, then sets the line. We paired them because that is the order they get picked up in on the same chair.

What the two share is the adjustment: both down to zero-gap. That is on both cartons, and it is the only property you should expect of this set as a whole.

Vapor features

The blade is named F32 FADEOUT. WAHL writes on the back of the carton: "Go from bald to fade with an

innovative adjustable balding blade."

What to expect in the hand

The Vapor weighs 280 g / 9.9 oz and the Hi-Viz 208 g / 7.2 oz. That seventy-odd grams is the difference between the machine doing the work and the machine setting the line, and you feel it straight away.

Who it is for

Barbers who fade and then finish, and would rather reach for two machines than one.
Anyone who wants to go down to zero-gap: it is printed on both cartons.
Anyone working long stretches: the Vapor runs up to 2.5 hours, the Hi-Viz up to 130 min.

Who it is not for

If you are after a shaver for the last pass, it is not in this set. Look at the Wahl shavers instead.
