Why this set
A cut in the chair runs in a fixed order, and this set follows it. A foil shaver works on hair that is already short, so the length work always comes first and the shaver finishes what the other machine has brought down. The outline stays with the trimmer you already work with. Buying the machines together puts that sequence on one station in one order.
Who it is for
- Barbers cutting skin and bald fades who want two speeds on one clipper - the clipper's pack lists Seamless Balding and Fading and Close Fading Techniques under DESIGNED FOR
- Shops that offer head shaves or skin-level work on the neck and around the outline, finished with the shaver as the last pass
Who it is not for
- Outlines, line-ups and beard detail - that is a trimmer's job
- Taking long stubble or a full beard straight down with the shaver - bring it down with the clipper or trimmer first
- A barber who needs only one of these machines - each is sold on its own
Professional tip
Choose the clipper's speed for the job rather than running flat out. Set the bald band with the blade closed down, then open it in small steps with the taper lever as you work up, flicking out at the end of each stroke.
How to use
- Before the first client, brush the blade clean and oil it with clipper oil. Check that the shaver's foil is seated and has no dent or tear.
- If you set a blade to zero-gap, do it with the machine off, then check that the moving blade sits behind the edge of the fixed blade before it touches skin.
- Take the length down with the clipper and a guard from the seven in its box; then fade up from the bald band without a guard, opening the blade with the taper lever in small steps.
- Finish with the shaver on hair that is already short: stretch the skin, hold the head flat against it and work in short, overlapping passes with light pressure.
- Switch everything off before you put the machines down; stand the clipper back on its power station.
Care and maintenance
After each client, switch off and brush the hair from the teeth and around the blades with a soft, dry brush, and wipe the housings with a dry cloth. Clean the shaver the same way, dry, with its cleaning brush. At the end of the day, and whenever a blade starts to drag, put a few drops of clipper oil across the teeth, run it for a few seconds and wipe off the excess. Brush the hair out of the shaver's foil and cutters without pressing on the foil, and replace the foil and the cutter bars when the foil is damaged or the cut starts to drag. Clean everything dry: never rinse a machine under the tap or put it in liquid.

Frequently asked questions
What is in the set?
A clipper and a foil shaver from Wahl Professional, each in its own Wahl carton.
Which machine does which job?
The clipper takes the bulk and builds the fade, then the shaver takes the last pass.
How long do the machines run on a charge?
The clipper runs up to 3.5 hours on a 120 min charge; the shaver runs 2 hours on a 45 min charge.
Can the blades be set to zero-gap?
Yes: the clipper's blade is zero-gap adjustable. Make any adjustment with the machine off, then check that the moving blade sits behind the edge of the fixed blade before it touches skin.
Can I rinse the machines under the tap?
No. Clean them dry with a brush. Never rinse them under the tap or put them in liquid, and keep them and their cords away from wet surfaces at the station.
Do the blades need oil?
Yes, the clipper blade does. At the end of the day, and whenever a blade starts to drag, put a few drops of clipper oil across the teeth, run it for a few seconds and wipe off the excess. The shaver is cleaned dry with its cleaning brush.
Can I buy the machines separately?
Yes. The links above go to each machine's own page.
