Wahl Set: 5-Star Vapor Switch + Vanish Shaver is a set of two machines we put together ourselves: the 5-Star Vapor Switch and the 5-Star Vanish Shaver. The Vapor Switch is the clipper, and the point of that machine is in its name: a switch between 7000 and 9000 RPM, on a brushless motor.

We put this set together ourselves. It is not a WAHL carton.

Why these two

A clipper takes bulk off and blends; a foil shaver is the machine for the last pass. We paired them because they get picked up one after the other in the same chair. What sets the Vapor Switch apart inside this pairing is the switch: two fixed speeds instead of one. WAHL writes on the back of the carton: "For barbers who refuse one-size-fits-all performance, Vapor Switch is built to adapt to your technique."

Vapor Switch features

• Two speeds, 7000 and 9000 RPM, with the position marked on the switch.
• The motor is named HyperShift and carries the line 2-SPEED BRUSHLESS MOTOR. A brushless motor

has no brushes to wear.

• The blade is named F32 DRIFT BLADE and the lever RAPID SWITCH TAPER LEVER. The carton does not

say what either does.

• On charging, WAHL writes: "Quick-Charge: 5 minutes plugged in = 10 minutes of cutting."
• In the box, as the carton puts it: "Single Power Station and USB-C Cord Included."
• Seven cutting guides are included. On the carton: "INCLUDES 7 PREMIUM CUTTING GUIDES", in the sizes 1/16" 1.5 mm, 1/8" 3.0 mm, 3/16" 4.5 mm, 1/4" 6.0 mm, 3/8" 10.0 mm, 1/2" 13.0 mm and 5/8" 16.0 mm.
• The rating plate reads Made in China.

What to expect in the hand

The Vapor Switch weighs 288 g / 10.1 oz. That is the only printed measure of how it handles.

Who it is for

• Anyone working long stretches: the carton gives up to 3.5 hours of run time.
