What to expect in the hand
At 288 g this is a light machine, and the switch is what you notice. Two speeds mean you stop compensating with pressure and pace: take the weight off at 7000 RPM, then step up to 9000 RPM for the blending and fading passes. The lever runs the cut from 0.5 to 1.2 mm and goes to zero-gap: the close fading the box describes. The oil reservoir sits inside the head, so the blade carries its own lubrication between oilings.

Professional tip
Take the bulk down on the low speed, then thumb the switch up as the taper tightens, so the blade is at its precision setting where the blend needs it. Make the change between passes, not mid-pass, and the line stays even.
How to use
- Charge before first use - a 120 min charge gives up to 3.5 hours of cordless run time.
- Oil the blade: a drop at each end of the cutting edge and one in the centre; run briefly, wipe off the excess.
- Pick your speed on the tool - 7000 RPM for bulk removal, 9000 RPM for blending and fading.
- Set the taper lever from 0.5 to 1.2 mm, or clip on a guide from 1.5 mm to 16.0 mm.
- Work the bulk first, then switch up and bring the lever down as you climb into the fade.

Care and maintenance
Brush the hair out after each client and oil the F32 Drift blade every day you use it - a drop at each end of the cutting edge and one in the centre - with the Wahl blade oil from the box. The built-in reservoir is not a replacement for that: it lubricates the head as the blade moves, and the blade still wants oiling on your normal schedule. A blade cleaning spray always gets a drop of oil afterwards, because it leaves the blade dry, and a dry blade is the usual reason a clipper pulls. Never soak it. There is also a Quick-Charge: 5 minutes plugged in gives about 10 minutes of cutting, which is what gets you through the client in the chair. It is a cord/cordless clipper, so you can also just plug it in and keep working.
What is the F32 Drift blade and what does the built-in oil reservoir do?
The F32 Drift is this clipper's patented blade. It carries a small oil reservoir inside the head, and Wahl states this reduces friction for cooler, smoother cuts, compared with a standard blade set in lab testing. It lubricates the head while the blade moves - it does not replace your daily oiling, and the blade still needs a drop of oil on your normal schedule.
Can it go zero-gap, and how short does it cut?
The blade sets from 0.5 to 1.2 mm on the lever and is zero-gap adjustable, which is why the box lists it for seamless balding and fading and close fading techniques. Take the usual care when you set a blade to zero-gap: closer settings sit nearer the skin, so work flat and let the blade do the cutting.
Is this the same as the Wahl Vapor?
No. The Vapor Switch is its own model, item 3028868, type 5316L. The Vapor is a separate clipper on our store, and the two have different motors and different specifications. If you are choosing between them, the Switch is the one with two motor speeds and the Rapid Switch taper lever.
How is it charged, and can I use it abroad?
It comes with a Single Power Station charging stand and a USB-C cord, so you can dock it or charge it from the cord. The clipper is rated 100 to 240 V at 50 to 60 Hz, so it works on any mains supply worldwide with a simple plug adapter for the socket. No voltage converter.
What does the LED indicator do?
Wahl states the integrated LED signals charging status and maintenance needs, so you can see where the clipper stands before you pick it up rather than finding out mid-client. Treat it as a prompt, not a substitute for your routine: oil the blade daily whatever the LED shows.
