Piur London Rebonding Shampoo (1000 ml) is the preparation wash of the Rebonding straightening protocol: it removes residual build-up and evens out porosity, so Keraplex meets the same fibre from root to ends. It is made for chemically resistant hair booked for the two-product service, stays on for 2 to 3 minutes, and the hair is dried completely before Keraplex goes on. Piur London presents it as formaldehyde-free and V-Label vegan, the same two marks as Keraplex.
- What it is: The preparation shampoo of the Rebonding protocol, Deep Cleansing Purifier formula
- Hair type: Chemically resistant hair booked for Rebonding, any prior chemical history
- Key actives: Three marine algae extracts and cocamidopropyl betaine
- How it is used: On damp hair, 2 to 3 minutes, rinsed with warm water
- Before Keraplex: Hair dried completely
- Format: 1000 ml, professional use
Why the wash comes first
Keraplex can only realign hair evenly if it meets an even fibre. This shampoo is built for that one job: Piur London describes its formula as removing residual build-up while equalising porosity across the fibre. That is also its limit. It is not a stand-alone clarifying shampoo, and we would not sell it as one; its place is the start of a Rebonding appointment. What you control is the massage, gentle and without rubbing, and how dry the hair is before the next product touches it.
Key ingredients
- Hypnea musciformis extract: a marine alga extract.
- Sargassum filipendula extract: a second marine alga.
- Gelidiella acerosa extract: the third marine alga Piur London names.
- Cocamidopropyl betaine: a mild secondary cleanser.
What to expect
Before Keraplex the hair feels stripped-clean and a little dry, and it drags slightly between the fingers. That is the preparation doing its job. It is not conditioned away: nothing that coats the fibre goes on between this wash and the smoothing treatment.
Who it is for
- The opening step of every Rebonding service, on every head
- Chemically resistant hair, natural or previously treated, booked for Rebonding
- Hair carrying styling product or silicone that would stop Keraplex taking evenly
- Salons running Keraplex who want the preparation step from the same system
Who it is not for
- Blonde, highlighted or sensitised hair: that hair goes to Reactive Pro, which opens with its own shampoo
- A general or everyday wash: its role is preparing the fibre for Keraplex
- Damaged or broken skin on the scalp
- Home use: it is a professional product, for adult clients
Professional tip
Feel the hair before you dry it. Clean hair squeaks between the fingers and drags slightly; if it slides, it is still coated, and Keraplex will take unevenly on exactly those lengths. Wash again before you reach for the dryer.
How to use
Two ways to work this shampoo: Piur London's directions as the brand publishes them, and the way we run it at the backwash, with the timing left to Method A.
Method A: manufacturer method
- Apply to damp hair.
- Massage the scalp and lengths gently, without rubbing.
- Leave for 2 to 3 minutes.
- Rinse thoroughly with warm water.
- Dry the hair completely before moving on to Keraplex.
Method B: the Brazilian method
- Detangle dry. A wide-tooth comb before the hair goes wet, so the lather reaches every strand. Salon practice, not one of Piur London's steps.
- Lather the lengths. Styling product, silicone and oil sit on the mid-lengths and ends more than at the scalp, so work the lather there. Pads of the fingers at the scalp, never nails.
- Leave, then rinse. For the time in Method A, then rinse as Method A says.
- Wash again if needed. On product-heavy hair, if it still feels coated after the rinse, wash a second time before drying.
- Nothing in between. No conditioner and no mask between this wash and Keraplex: anything that coats the fibre undoes the preparation.
- Dry completely, roots first. The root area dries last and is where damp hides. Keraplex goes onto hair carrying no water.
Where it fits in the Piur London range
Rebonding is two products in one order: Rebonding Shampoo, then Rebonding Keraplex, the glyoxylic smoothing treatment that is ironed in. For blonde, highlighted or sensitised hair, Piur London runs the same two-product logic as Reactive Pro, opening with Reactive Pro Shampoo. Both protocols sit in Piur London Professional, under the Piur London brand page.
Complete and maintain the system
- Rebonding Keraplex (1000 ml): the smoothing treatment this wash prepares the hair for
- Piur London Professional: the salon protocols
- Piur London: every Piur range, chosen by hair concern
Frequently asked questions
Can the two Rebonding steps be swapped or skipped?
No. Rebonding Shampoo always runs first to remove build-up and equalise porosity, and the hair is dried completely before Keraplex goes on. Skipping the wash, or applying Keraplex to damp hair, changes how evenly the fibre takes the realignment.
Is the Rebonding protocol vegan?
Yes. Piur London presents both Rebonding Shampoo and Keraplex with V-Label vegan certification.
Is it formaldehyde-free?
Yes. Piur London presents Rebonding Shampoo as formaldehyde-free, the same as Keraplex, so the whole two-product service runs without formaldehyde from the first rinse.
Is it sulphate-free?
No. It contains sodium laureth sulfate. That suits its job as a thorough preparation wash at the start of a Rebonding service; it is not meant as a client's everyday shampoo.
Can it be used on coloured or bleached hair?
On coloured hair that is still chemically resistant, yes: it is made for resistant hair with any prior chemical history. Blonde, highlighted or sensitised hair goes to Reactive Pro instead, which has its own preparation shampoo.
