Piur London Hydraluxe Shampoo (1000 ml) is the cleansing step of the Hydraluxe hydration protocol, used straight after Prime D-Tox on hair that reads dry, porous or dull. Piur London describes its AminoShield Cleanse, sugar beet derived amino acids, as cleansing without stripping the fibre and helping retain moisture. It is massaged in for 3 to 5 minutes and rinsed before Moisture Infusion. It also works on its own for dry hair on a routine visit.

At a glance
  • What it is: The cleansing step of the Hydraluxe protocol, AminoShield Cleanse
  • Hair type: Any hair entering the Hydraluxe protocol, or dry hair on a routine visit
  • Key actives: Betaine, trehalose, gum arabic extract, sodium PCA
  • How it is used: Wet hair and scalp, massage 3 to 5 minutes, rinse
  • Format: 1000 ml, professional use

Why a hydration protocol needs its own shampoo

A hydration service loses ground if the wash before it strips what the service is about to add. Hydraluxe Shampoo is built around betaine, which Piur London describes as a sugar beet derived amino acid, with trehalose and sodium PCA as humectants. It sits between Prime D-Tox, which clears mineral build-up, and Moisture Infusion, which does the hydrating. It does contain sodium laureth sulfate, so it is a thorough wash.

Key ingredients

  • Betaine: a sugar beet derived amino acid.
  • Trehalose: a humectant.
  • Acacia senegal (gum arabic) extract: a film-forming biopolymer.
  • Sodium PCA: a humectant.

What to expect

Clean lengths that do not feel stripped.

Who it is for

  • Any hair entering the Hydraluxe protocol
  • Dry hair on a routine visit that does not need the full four steps
  • Salons running Hydraluxe who want the cleansing step from the same system

Who it is not for

  • A general clarifying shampoo outside the routine
  • Clients who avoid sodium laureth sulfate: it is in the formula
  • Home use: the client's version is Hydraluxe Shampoo Home Care

Professional tip

On a routine visit for dry hair it can stand alone. Inside the full service it follows Prime D-Tox and never replaces it.

How to use

Two ways to work it: Piur London's directions, and the way we run it in the salon, with the timing left to Method A.

Method A: manufacturer method

  1. Apply to wet hair and scalp.
  2. Massage gently for 3 to 5 minutes.
  3. Rinse thoroughly.
  4. Proceed to Moisture Infusion.

Method B: the Brazilian method

  1. Wet hair, apply to the scalp, lather and let it run through the lengths. Salon practice, not one of Piur London's steps.
  2. Massage for the time in Method A, then rinse thoroughly.
  3. Squeeze out the water and go to Moisture Infusion. No conditioner in between.
Safety: Professional use only. Do not treat as a general clarifying shampoo outside the routine. Avoid contact with eyes; rinse with water if it happens. Discontinue and consult a dermatologist if an allergic reaction occurs.

Where it fits in the Piur London range

Hydraluxe runs in one order: Prime D-Tox, then Hydraluxe Shampoo, then Moisture Infusion, each rinsed, then the Balm, which stays in. Prime D-Tox comes first when the hair carries mineral build-up. At home, Hydraluxe Shampoo Home Care is the client's wash. The salon protocol sits in Piur London Professional.

Complete and maintain the system

  • Prime D-Tox (500 ml): the purify step before it
  • Hydraluxe Moisture Infusion (1000 ml): the core hydration step after it
  • Hydraluxe Balm (300 g): the leave-in finish
  • Hydraluxe Shampoo Home Care (250 ml): the client's wash at home
  • Piur London Professional: the salon protocols
  • Piur London: every Piur range, chosen by hair concern

Frequently asked questions

Is the Hydraluxe Shampoo sulphate-free?

No. It contains sodium laureth sulfate, like the S.P.R. and Gold Ritual shampoos.

Can the Hydraluxe steps be skipped or used out of order?

Each step points to the next, so the intended order is purify, cleanse, infuse, seal: Prime D-Tox, Hydraluxe Shampoo, Moisture Infusion, Balm. Each of the first three is rinsed before moving on; the Balm is the only step that stays in the hair.

Can Hydraluxe be used on colour-treated or chemically treated hair?

Yes. Piur London does not restrict Hydraluxe on coloured, bleached or otherwise chemically treated hair; the line is built for fibre that reads dry or porous, whatever the cause.

Is Hydraluxe vegan or formaldehyde-free?

No. Piur London states that none of the four Hydraluxe professional products carries a V-Label vegan seal or a formaldehyde-free seal.
