How it sits
The fixed blade is only half of it
A clipper blade is two parts: the fixed blade you can see, and the moving blade underneath that does the cutting. When a blade starts pulling, we recommend checking both, not just the top half.

The shavers and their heads

What the packs say about the head: the XCEED Shaver has a gold titanium foil with a Crunchy cutting blade; the BOOSTED Shaver has gold titanium foils, staggered CRUNCHY stainless steel blades and a head with 2 blades plus 1 central blade; the BOOSTED One Foil has a single gold titanium foil on a One-Click removable head. These are the replacement heads we stock.

Before you change a blade

For the change itself, follow your tool's manual. A few things we always recommend, with what the packs themselves name:

Switch the tool off, take it off the charger or cord, and take the guard off. Never change a blade on a running tool.

The packs of the CYBORG clipper, the CYBORG trimmer and the BOOSTED trimmer name a cleaning and maintenance kit with a mini screwdriver for regulation.

The XCEED clipper, the XCEED trimmer and the HITTER UP have a removable magnetic drop-top, which their packs name for easy cleaning and lubrication.

Work over the bench, not over the floor: small parts are easy to lose.

What you are aiming to get back to
Look at how the blade sits on your tool before you loosen anything. That position is your reference, and it is quicker to copy than to re-derive.

Zero Gap or 0.3 mm on the trimmers

The setting
Gamma+ supplies the setting, not the guesswork
Zero Gap is the position where the fixed T-blade sits flush with the moving blade rather than a fraction behind it; it is what draws a hard line. The packs of the XCEED, CYBORG and BOOSTED trimmers name a Zero Gap or 0.3 mm blade alignment tool, and the XCEED's pack says it is included. The BOOSTED's T-blade is described as adjustable from 0.8 to 0 mm.

Zero Gap is a setting for lines and edges; 0.3 mm leaves a margin, and that is what we recommend on a trimmer that also runs over skin. Clippers are different: on those you set the length with the lever. According to its pack the XCEED has one lever for the Click System with 6 clicks and one for Freestyle; the CYBORG two customizable levers, floating or click, which cannot be used at the same time; the BOOSTED UP three levers, two Click System and one Floating System, plus a TIGHT or STRETCH taper bracket.

One thing not to do
We advise against filing or grinding a blade to close the gap.

After the change: blade care

How often should a barber change a clipper blade?
There is no fixed interval: it depends on how much you cut and how well the blade is kept. We change a blade when the cut starts pulling instead of slicing, when the fade line drags, or when the teeth show chips. We always recommend cleaning and oiling after every client.
