Salvatore Tanino Therapy Curls Transition Kit MBFNO Step M + Step B + Step F + Step N + Step O 3500ml is the complete transition service that brings the curl and wave back: it helps return the shape to curly, wavy hair and speeds the capillary transition. Step M cleanses, the Step B tannin step conditions and realigns the previously-processed lengths, Step F rebalances the pH, and the Step N mask and Step O leave-in return moisture and define the wave. Worked without formaldehyde, it takes hair that has lost its pattern back towards a soft, defined, manageable curl. A complete salon kit: Step M 1000ml, Step B 1000ml, Step F 500g, Step N 500g and Step O 500ml, 3500ml in total.

Why a transition service
Hair that has been smoothed or chemically processed loses its natural pattern, and bringing the curl and wave back takes more than a mask. This kit runs the whole transition in five steps. Step M cleanses and preps. The Step B tannin step conditions and realigns the processed lengths so the fibre is even and manageable, worked without formaldehyde or glyoxylic acid. Step F rebalances the pH after the chemical work. Then the curly line does the returning: the Step N biocollagen mask floods moisture back in, and the Step O leave-in defines and holds the returning curl and wave. Together they clean, condition, rebalance and define, speeding the hair back towards its own shape.
What to expect
Expect hair that has been sitting flat or unevenly processed to move back towards a softer, more defined curl and wave across the service and the washes that follow. Step B evens and conditions the processed lengths, the pH mask settles the fibre, and the moisture mask and leave-in bring the pattern back and hold it. On previously smoothed or coloured lengths the change shows most, where the hair had lost the most shape. It conditions and re-defines the fibre through a plant-tannin and curl-care system; it is not a permanent chemical service and does not restructure the hair.
Who it is for
- Salons transitioning clients from previously smoothed or straightened hair back to their natural curl
- Curly and wavy hair that has lost its pattern and needs cleansing, conditioning and definition to bring it back
- Most curly and wavy hair types, including coloured lengths, after a strand test
Who it is not for
- Anyone wanting a smoothing or straightening result: this service returns curl, it does not remove it
- A quick home fix: the transition is a professional five-step salon service
- Someone expecting the Step B tannin step to iron the hair straight rather than condition it back to curl
Professional tip
Read the hair before you start and set your expectation with the client: this service returns and defines the curl, it does not straighten it. Work the Step B tannin step evenly through the processed lengths and give each of Step F, Step N and Step O its full working time, because on previously smoothed hair the change comes gradually across the transition, not in one pass. Keep the masks to the mid-lengths and ends, and scrunch the Step O leave-in from the ends up to encourage the returning wave.
How to use
Read this as one service protocol for the whole kit, not five separate products. It is a salon transition service for a client growing out an earlier smoothing or straightening service, where the mid-lengths and ends are still smooth while the new growth comes in curly. The aim is not to chemically re-curl the smoothed hair; it is to condition and realign those lengths and feed the natural curl so the two textures behave alike and the grow-out blends instead of showing a hard line. Work on freshly washed hair sectioned into four quarters, and plan around 90 minutes in the chair. The amounts below are a professional guide: use enough to saturate each section without flooding the scalp, adjusting up for long, dense or porous hair and down for fine or short hair. One kit covers several full-head services.
The order is deliberate. You cleanse to open the fibre, lay down the tannin to condition and realign the smoothed lengths, drop the pH to lock that in, flood the hair with moisture so the curl can spring, then define and protect the pattern as it dries. Each step sets up the next, which is why none of them should be skipped or reordered.
- Step M, cleanse and prepare. On wet hair, massage the Curly Collagen shampoo through scalp and lengths, rinse, and repeat once. This double cleanse lifts styling residue, oils and hard-water minerals so the tannin in the next step deposits evenly along the strand instead of grabbing onto buildup, and the collagen begins drawing moisture back into the porous, previously-processed lengths. Rinse well and leave the hair damp, not dripping.
- Step B, condition and realign the lengths. Working one thin sub-section at a time across the four quarters, apply Capillary Styling from roots to ends until each section is evenly saturated but not running, then comb through so the tannin sits on every strand. Leave on for at least 30 minutes. The active is plant tannin: these polyphenols hydrogen-bond to the hair keratin and coat the cuticle, softening the previously-smoothed lengths and helping them fall back toward the natural curl pattern. Because it carries no formaldehyde and no glyoxylic acid, it conditions and realigns the fibre rather than permanently changing its structure, so it stays kind to hair already weakened by processing. Rinse with cool to lukewarm water and blow-dry smooth.
- Step F, rebalance the pH. Apply a generous layer of Chemical Control from the mid-lengths through the ends, comb through, and leave for 20 to 30 minutes before rinsing. After the tannin work the cuticle is slightly raised; this acidifying step brings the fibre back to its natural, mildly acidic pH, which re-tightens the cuticle, locks in the conditioning from Step B and settles the hair. Leaving it out gives a softer, shorter-lived result.
- Step N, replenish moisture. On towel-dried hair, apply the Curly Hydrolipidic mask down the lengths, comb through and leave for 20 to 30 minutes, then rinse. Biocollagen, panthenol and shea butter replace the hydrolipidic film and internal moisture that both the earlier straightening and this service draw out. This is the step that lets the curl form: a dry curl stays slack, a properly hydrated one recoils and holds its shape.
- Step O, define, protect and hand off. On damp, towel-blotted hair, work the curl-and-wave control leave-in through the lengths strand by strand, then scrunch from the ends upward to encourage the pattern, and do not rinse. Let the hair dry naturally or diffuse on low heat. It adds slip for the final detangle, coats the cuticle against frizz and holds the returning wave as it sets. Send this product home with the client for daily definition, and rebook every four to six weeks: each visit conditions the length that is still smooth and lets more natural curl take over, so the transition stays gradual and even.
For professional use. Do a patch test and a strand test before the service. External use only. Frequently asked questions
What is in the MBFNO kit and what does each step do?
Five steps: Step M Curly Collagen shampoo 1000ml cleanses, Step B Capillary Styling 1000ml is the tannin step that conditions and realigns the processed hair, Step F Chemical Control 500g rebalances the pH, Step N Curly Hydrolipidic 500g is the moisture mask, and Step O curl-and-wave leave-in 500ml defines the wave. Together they are the transition service that returns curl and wave shape, without formaldehyde.
Does this straighten the hair?
No. The transition service does the opposite: it helps return the curl and wave to hair that had lost its pattern, and speeds the capillary transition. The Step B tannin step conditions and realigns the processed lengths rather than ironing them straight, and the Step N mask and Step O leave-in bring the curl back and define it. If you want a smoothing service, that is a different Tanino Therapy kit.
Who is the transition service for?
It is for curly and wavy hair that has lost its natural pattern, often after earlier smoothing, straightening or heavy processing, and for clients growing that hair out and wanting the curl back. The kit cleanses, conditions, rebalances the pH and re-defines the curl across a five-step salon service. Always run a strand test first, especially on coloured or previously chemically-processed lengths.
Does the kit contain formaldehyde?
No. The Step B tannin step is a Brazilian plant-tannin formula, worked without formaldehyde, a formaldehyde releaser or glyoxylic acid, and the rest of the kit is cleansing and curl-care. That is what lets it condition and re-define the fibre without a reactive smoothing agent. Always run a patch test and a strand test before the service.
Do I rinse the Step O leave-in?
No. Step O is a leave-in: after the mask, work it through damp hair, scrunch to shape the curls and leave it in. Do not rinse it out. Let the hair dry naturally or diffuse on low heat, and avoid brushing the curls out once they have set. Use a small amount and build up if the hair needs more.
