Why the Legend+
A cut in the chair runs in a fixed order. The clipper takes the length and builds the blend, the trimmer sets the line, and the foil shaver finishes. This is the clipper in that order, and the blade is what it is built around. WAHL describes the Wedge™ blade as “engineered for smooth feeding and precise cutting performance”. Its long fade range means the blend is made on the blade between passes, while the two guides keep the length above it.
Key features
- High-carbon steel blades with titanium and diamond-like carbon (DLC) coatings, which WAHL calls “ultra-strong, rust resistant”
- Crunch Blade™ Technology, as WAHL names it on this clipper
- Cord/cordless, 100-240 V~50-60 Hz input
Who it is for
- Barbers who build soft-line fades and blends - the first use WAHL lists: “Soft-Line Fading and Seamless Blends”
- Fading and tapering on longer lengths - “Longer Length Fading and Tapering”, in WAHL's list
- Clipper-over-comb work - “Clipper Over Comb Techniques”, the third use WAHL names
Who it is not for
- Outlines, line-ups and beard detail - that is a trimmer's job: the Wahl Hi-Viz Trimmer
- A skin-smooth head shave - that is a foil shaver's job: the Wahl Vanish Shaver
Professional tip
Let the blade do the blend: open the lever in small steps between passes, and flick out at the end of each stroke. Keep the two guides for the length above the fade.
How to use
- Charge it with the clipper switched off: plug the cord into the clipper first, then into the outlet.
- Once it is charged, it runs without the cord. When the battery is low, connect the cord to the clipper and keep working.
- If the battery is completely run down, let it charge for 1 minute, switched off, before you use it on the cord.
- Before the first client, brush the blade clean and oil it (see Care).
- Switch it on at the on/off switch. Take the bulk with one of the two guides or over the comb, against the growth.
- Switch it off after use and brush the hair out of the blade before you put the clipper down.
Care and maintenance
After each client, switch off and brush the loose hair from the housing and the blade with a dry brush. Oil the blade often, with Wahl clipper oil only: one drop in the centre of the moving top blade and one on each end. Then switch the clipper on to spread it and wipe off the excess. The DLC coating does not take the place of the oil. Every so often, oil the heel of the blade too. Wipe the housing only with a soft, slightly damp cloth, never with solvents, bleach, benzene or thinner. If it cuts worse despite regular cleaning and oiling, the blade set needs replacing. The Wahl Special Blade Oil 200ml is the bottle for the station; the Wahl Oil Tube 10ml is the tube for your case.

Frequently asked questions
Which Wahl Legend is this?
The Legend+: Wahl Professional's green, all-metal 5-Star cord/cordless clipper with the Precision Wedge™ Blade, at 10.7 oz | 304 g.
What does the Wedge blade give me?
A long range, 0.7 mm - 1.7 mm, so you blend on the blade between passes. The blades are high-carbon steel with titanium and diamond-like carbon (DLC) coatings.
How long does it run, and how long does it take to charge?
Up to 80 min of run time on its Li-ion battery, from a 60 min charge. As a cord/cordless clipper it also works on the cord; if the battery is completely run down, charge it for 1 minute, switched off, before using it on the cord.
How much does it weigh?
10.7 oz | 304 g. The housing is what WAHL calls the New All-Metal Housing.
What motor does it have?
A rotary motor, which WAHL names the High-Performance 6500 RPM Rotary Motor.
What is it designed for?
WAHL lists three uses: Soft-Line Fading and Seamless Blends, Longer Length Fading and Tapering, and Clipper Over Comb Techniques. Outlines and line-ups are a trimmer's job; a skin-smooth head shave is a foil shaver's.
How do I look after the blade?
Switch it off, and unplug it if the cord is connected. After each client, brush the loose hair from the housing and the blade with a dry brush. Oil the blade often with Wahl clipper oil: one drop in the centre of the moving top blade and one on each end, run it briefly and wipe off the excess. Wipe the housing only with a soft, slightly damp cloth, and never rinse it under the tap.
