Salvatore Tanino Therapy Hair Reconstruction and Cauterization Kit AGJ (2000ml) is Salvatore's three-step reconstruction for badly damaged hair, built on amino acids with collagen, keratin and wheat protein, and worked without formaldehyde. Step A clarifies and preps the fibre, Step G rebuilds the cuticle with a plant tannin, and Step J fills the cortex. It brings strength back rather than changing the shape, so smoothing stays a separate service.

At a glance

  • Type: salon service, a three-step reconstruction in one box
  • Best for: hair left weak, porous and snapping by bleach, colour or heat
  • Key actives: amino acids, collagen and keratin
  • Not for: smoothing or straightening, which is a separate service
  • Size: 2000ml box, a 1000ml wash and two 500ml masks

Why this service

Damaged hair loses substance from the inside as well as the surface, so a single mask rarely holds it. This box works both layers in order: a clarify to clear the way, a cuticle step to rebuild the outer scale, and a cortex step to fill the core. We would reach for it on the client whose ends snap wet, whose colour keeps fading fast, or whose bleach has left the lengths spongy. It rebuilds; it is not a smoothing, so the shape stays the client's own. Made in Brazil at Salvatore's plant in Presidente Prudente.

What is in the kit

Three products, run as one service. Step A is the Cuticle Prepper, a clarifying shampoo that lifts product and buildup so what follows can bind to a clean fibre. Step G is the Cuticles Multifunctional, a cuticle reconstructor on a plant tannin with collagen, keratin and wheat protein, left on twenty to thirty minutes. Step J is the Cortex Reconstructor, an amino-acid and protein mask that works into the core over the same window. Each pack carries its own ingredient list.

What to expect

Hair comes back stronger through the length, less porous and far less prone to snapping, with the surface smoother to the touch and colour holding truer. The cuticle step lays the outer scale back down while the cortex step feeds the inside, so the fibre reads solid rather than hollow. Used before and between chemical services, it keeps stressed hair workable instead of letting it slide into breakage.

Who it is for

  • Bleached, coloured or highlighted hair left weak, porous and elastic in the wrong way
  • Ends that snap when wet, or lengths that feel spongy and rough after processing
  • Clients you want to strengthen before or between colour, straightening or heat work

Who it is not for

  • Anyone after smoothing or straightening; there is no tannin smoother in this box
  • Hair too far gone to save, where a cut serves the client better than a service
  • A home user on their own, since these are professional steps run to a protocol

Professional tip

The gain is in the timing, and the miss we see most is a mask rushed off early. We would clarify once with Step A, then give Step G and Step J their full leave-on each under gentle heat, because the proteins need that window to settle into the fibre. Work them through the mid-lengths and ends where the damage sits, and keep the roots light so the hair does not go heavy at the crown.

How to use

Run the three in order on hair you have washed and planned, because reconstruction only lands on a clean, sectioned fibre. The two masks rinse out, so plan your time around their leave-on.

Work each step through the mid-lengths and ends, comb so every strand is covered, and give the masks their full time before you rinse. Repeat the service as the hair's condition needs across a course of visits.

  1. Clarify with Step A. Shampoo and rinse, because a clean fibre lets the reconstruction that follows bind evenly instead of sitting on residue.
  2. Rebuild the cuticle with Step G. Comb it through, leave it twenty to thirty minutes and rinse, so the plant tannin and proteins lay the outer scale back down.
  3. Fill the cortex with Step J. Work it through the lengths and leave it its time, because the amino acids need those minutes to reach the core before you rinse.
  4. Finish and plan. Dry as usual and book the next session to the hair's condition, since reconstruction builds over a course rather than one visit.

External use only. Avoid the eyes and rinse with running water if contact happens. Keep the packs closed, below 40 degrees and out of sunlight, and out of reach of children and pets. Declared fragrance allergens differ between the three products; check each pack before the service. If any abnormal reaction occurs, stop and seek advice. See each pack for the full ingredient list and declared allergens.

Where it fits in the range

AGJ is the reconstruction box of the system, the one for a fibre that needs building back before anything else is done to it. When the goal is smoothing rather than strength, that sits in the A and B kits, a separate service, and the curly and hydration boxes feed hair that is already sound. Which letter step does what across the range, and which kit is which protocol, is set out in our Tanino Therapy steps A to O guide. The rest of the range sits under Salvatore Tanino Therapy.

In short

  • A 2000ml three-part reconstruction, no formaldehyde
  • Clarify, rebuild the cuticle, then fill the cortex; on amino acids with collagen and keratin
  • Give each mask its full leave-on for the proteins to settle
  • Built for strength, not shape; use it before or between chemical work

Frequently asked questions

What is the AGJ kit for?

It is Salvatore's three-step answer to badly damaged hair: a clarify, a cuticle step and a cortex step that build the fibre back from the inside out. It strengthens weak, porous, snapping hair rather than smoothing it.

Does it smooth or straighten the hair?

No. There is no tannin smoother in this box, so the natural shape stays. The smoothing service is the A and B kits; this one is about strength, and the two can be planned around each other.

Does it contain formaldehyde?

No formaldehyde. The strength comes from amino acids and proteins with a plant tannin in the cuticle step. Check each pack for the full ingredient list and the declared fragrance allergens, which are not the same across the three products.

How long does each step stay on?

Step A is a wash. Step G and Step J each sit twenty to thirty minutes, ideally under gentle heat, then rinse. Giving them the full window is what lets the proteins settle into the fibre.

Can I use it around colour or bleach?

Yes, it is made to strengthen hair before or between chemical work, after a strand test. Run it to steady the fibre first, then time the colour or the smoothing to the schedule that suits the head.
