The Wahl Legend on this page is the corded one: a corded fade clipper with a blade range of 0.7 mm to 1.7 mm, set with a taper lever, made for the socket at the station. WAHL designs it for “SOFT LINE FADING AND SEAMLESS BLENDS”.

Why the Legend
A cut in the chair runs in a fixed order: the clipper takes the bulk and builds the fade, the trimmer sets the outline, and the foil shaver finishes. This is the clipper in that order, and it is built to stay plugged in. For a shop that works the fade at one station all day, a corded machine is one less thing to charge: the lever on the blade does the fading, the socket does the rest.
Who it is not for
- Outlines and line-ups - that is a trimmer's job: the Wahl Beret Stealth Trimmer Black
- A skin-smooth finish - that is a foil shaver's job: the Wahl Vanish Shaver
- Work away from a 220-230 V, 50 Hz socket - it runs on the cable from that supply
Professional tip
Open the lever for the bulk, then close it gradually as you work up through the fade. Check the blend after each change, and take the lever back a little where two lengths still show a line.
How to use
- With the clipper unplugged, check the blade and oil it.
- Plug it in.
- Take the bulk down with a guide.
- Work the fade with the taper lever.
- Switch off, unplug and brush out the blade.
Care and maintenance
After each client, switch off and brush the teeth of the blade clean. At the end of the day, and whenever it starts to drag, put a few drops of clipper oil across the teeth, run it briefly and wipe off the excess. Keep Wahl Special Blade Oil 200ml at the station for the daily oiling, and Wahl Oil Tube 10ml in the case for work away from it.
Complete your Wahl setup
- Finish the line - a trimmer for the outline after the fade
- The last pass - a foil shaver for a skin-smooth finish
- Keep the blade in shape - clipper oil for the station and the case
