Wahl Set: 5-Star Vapor Switch + Hi-Viz Trimmer + Vanish Shaver is a set of three machines we put together ourselves. It is the same clipper and the same shaver as in our set of two, with the trimmer added. The Vapor Switch has two fixed speeds, 7000 and 9000 RPM, and runs up to 3.5 hours. The Hi-Viz trimmer runs at 7200 RPM and adjusts to zero-gap.

What is in the set

We put this set together. It is not a WAHL carton. If you want it without the trimmer, that is our set of two.

Why these three

This is the order of a cut, in three machines. The clipper takes the bulk off and blends. The trimmer then sets the line with its T-shape. And a foil shaver is the machine for the last pass, once the line is standing.

What separates this set from the same three steps with a single-speed clipper is the switch. WAHL writes it on the back of the carton: "For barbers who refuse one-size-fits-all performance, Vapor Switch is built to adapt to your technique." The specification panel gives the run time as up to 3.5 hours.

Vapor Switch features

Two speeds, 7000 and 9000 RPM, with the position marked on the switch.
The motor is named HyperShift and carries the line 2-SPEED BRUSHLESS MOTOR. A brushless motor

has no brushes to wear.

The blade is named F32 DRIFT BLADE and the lever RAPID SWITCH TAPER LEVER. The carton does not

say what either does.

On charging, WAHL writes: "Quick-Charge: 5 minutes plugged in = 10 minutes of cutting."
In the box, as the carton puts it: "Single Power Station and USB-C Cord Included."
Seven cutting guides are included. On the carton: "INCLUDES 7 PREMIUM CUTTING GUIDES", in the sizes 1/16" 1.5 mm, 1/8" 3.0 mm, 3/16" 4.5 mm, 1/4" 6.0 mm, 3/8" 10.0 mm, 1/2" 13.0 mm and 5/8" 16.0 mm.
The rating plate reads Made in China.

Hi-Viz features

The blade adjusts to zero-gap. WAHL names it "DLC Coated Extra Wide Blade".
The housing carries the name "All-Metal COMFORTCURVE® Design".
It charges over USB-C. WAHL writes: "USB-C charge option for convenience."
The rating plate reads MADE IN USA.

What to expect in the hand

The Vapor Switch weighs 288 g / 10.1 oz., the Hi-Viz 208 g / 7.2 oz. The heavier one takes the bulk off, the lighter one sets the line. No weight for the shaver is given here.

Who it is for

Barbers who want the whole cut in three machines on the counter.
Anyone who wants to pick between two fixed speeds: 7000 and 9000 RPM, set at the switch.
Anyone working long days: the Vapor Switch runs up to 3.5 hours, the Hi-Viz up to 130 min.

Who it is not for

If the trimmer is no use to you, take the set of two: same clipper, same shaver. If you want a clipper with a printed cutting length, look at the Wahl clippers - the Vapor Switch carton does not give one.
