Piur London S.P.R. Seal & Protect (1000 ml) is the step that makes the S.P.R. infusion stay. It goes on over Protein Infusion, never in its place and with no rinse in between, and Piur London describes its Abyssinian oil and lipids as smoothing the cuticle and helping preserve resistance, flexibility and softness. It stays on for 10 minutes, heat optional, and the two steps are then rinsed together before Acidic Closure.
- What it is: The sealing step of the S.P.R. protocol, Abyssinian Peptide Lock
- Hair type: The same lengths and ends that carry Protein Infusion
- Key actives: Abyssinian oil, rice bran and soy proteins, marine algae, a conditioning silicone
- Processing time: 10 minutes over Protein Infusion, heat optional
- Format: 1000 ml, professional use
Why this step goes on over the infusion
Protein Infusion lays down its proteins along the lengths, but on its own it rinses away. Seal & Protect is the lock: applied over it from mid-lengths to ends and massaged in, it holds the deposit in place, and only then are both rinsed out in one go. That single joint rinse is the rule of the S.P.R. protocol. Rinse between the two and the infusion is lost; skip the infusion and this step has nothing to lock in.
Key ingredients
- Crambe abyssinica seed oil: Abyssinian oil, the lipid at the heart of the step.
- Hydrolyzed rice bran protein and hydrolyzed soy protein: plant proteins.
- Kappaphycus alvarezii and Laminaria saccharina extracts: marine algae.
- Bis-cetearyl amodimethicone: a conditioning silicone, so it is not a silicone-free product.
What to expect
More slip and a smoother feel after the rinse. The finished result shows only after Acidic Closure.
Who it is for
- Lengths and ends that have just had Protein Infusion
- Salons running the full S.P.R. service
Who it is not for
- A substitute for Protein Infusion: it locks the infusion in, it does not replace it
- A stand-alone sealing treatment outside the protocol
- Home use: it is a professional product
Professional tip
Even coverage over the infusion matters more than quantity: comb it through before the timer starts, not after.
How to use
Two ways to work it: Piur London's directions, and the way we run it in the salon, with the timing left to Method A.
Method A: manufacturer method
- Apply evenly over Protein Infusion, from mid-lengths to ends.
- Massage in and leave on for 10 minutes; heat is optional.
- Rinse thoroughly.
- Proceed to Acidic Closure.
Method B: the Brazilian method
- Straight over Protein Infusion, same sections, no rinse in between. Salon practice, not one of Piur London's steps.
- Mid-lengths to ends, massage in, then comb through so it covers the infusion evenly.
- Leave for the time in Method A. Heat optional.
- One rinse for both steps, with lukewarm water, until the lengths no longer feel slippery.
- Squeeze out the water and go to Acidic Closure.
Where it fits in the Piur London range
Seal & Protect is the third product of the service: the shampoo, then Protein Infusion, then Seal & Protect over it with no rinse in between, one rinse, then Acidic Closure. The four products also come together as the S.P.R. Full Protocol kit; Mask Therapy is the ten-minute alternative. All of it sits in Piur London Professional.
Complete and maintain the system

Frequently asked questions
Can it be used without Protein Infusion first?
No. Piur London positions it as applied over Protein Infusion, never in its place, and not as a stand-alone sealing treatment outside the protocol.
Can the S.P.R. steps be skipped or used out of order?
No. It is a closed four-step system and each step points to the next. Protein Infusion is not rinsed before Seal & Protect goes on over it, and Acidic Closure always closes the service. Running the steps out of order, or rinsing early, loses the infusion.
Is heat required during the treatment?
No. Heat is optional, not mandatory, during Protein Infusion and Seal & Protect. The shampoo and Acidic Closure are massaged in and rinsed at normal temperature.
Is the S.P.R. protocol vegan or formaldehyde-free?
No. Piur London states that the four S.P.R. protocol products, Shampoo, Protein Infusion, Seal & Protect and Acidic Closure, do not carry a vegan or formaldehyde-free seal. In the Sensorial Repair line only Mask Therapy carries the V-Label vegan certification.
