The Wahl Professional Chromini Duo is a cordless trimmer sold with two blades, and WAHL gives each blade its own job. The T-Blade, with a cutting length of 0.3 mm, is for contours, line-ups, sharp edges and detail work; the U-Blade, at 0.4 mm, is for smooth trimming, straight edging and wide lining. Each blade comes with its own set of guides.

Why the Chromini Duo

A cut in the chair runs in a fixed order: the clipper takes the bulk and the taper, the trimmer sets the outline and the edge, and the foil shaver finishes. This trimmer has that middle job, with a choice of blade. WAHL designs it for “Contours & Detail Work”, sharp edges and line-ups, and close trimming. Rather than two trimmers on the station, one body carries both blades, and the blade you fit decides the work.

What to expect in the hand

Whichever job you are on, the trimmer in your hand is the same cordless body: between the line-up and the wider edge, only the blade and its guide set change. It works on a lithium-ion battery, with an LED light indicator and what WAHL calls a “smart charge function”. Give it a full charge before the first client, and keep an eye on the LED.

Professional tip

Our order at the chair: draw the outline and the line-up with the T-Blade first. Then change to the U-Blade for the wider edges and the smooth trimming around the line you have drawn. In that order, one blade change per client is enough.

How to use

1. Charge it fully before first use and watch the LED light indicator.
2. With the trimmer switched off, fit the blade the cut needs and oil it.
3. For length, fit a guide from the set made for that blade.
4. Work the outline, then the edge.
5. Switch it off, brush it out, and set the travel lock before it goes in the bag.

Care and maintenance

After each client, switch off and brush the teeth of the blade clean. At the end of the day, and whenever it starts to drag, put a few drops of clipper oil across the teeth, run it briefly and wipe off the excess. Do the same for the blade you are not using before it goes back in the kit. Keep Wahl Special Blade Oil 200ml at the station for the daily oiling, and Wahl Oil Tube 10ml in the case for work away from it.
