Why the Genio
A cut in the chair runs in a fixed order: the clipper takes the bulk and works the length over the comb, the trimmer sets the outline, and the foil shaver finishes. This is the clipper in that order. What sets it apart at the station is the second battery: when one runs down, you swap it for the charged one and carry on, rather than plugging in or waiting.
Who it is not for
- Outlines and line-ups - that is a trimmer's job: the Wahl Beret Stealth Trimmer Black
- A skin-smooth finish - that is a foil shaver's job: the Wahl Vanish Shaver
Professional tip
Keep the second battery charging while the first is in use. Our habit at the station: swap between clients rather than in the middle of a fade, and put the battery you take out straight back on charge, so the spare is always the full one.
How to use
- Charge both batteries before first use.
- With the clipper switched off, check the blade and oil it.
- Slide a guide on for the bulk.
- Taper with the lever.
- Switch off, detach the blade and brush out underneath.
Care and maintenance
After each client, switch off and brush the teeth of the blade clean. At the end of the day, and whenever it starts to drag, put a few drops of clipper oil across the teeth, run it briefly and wipe off the excess. From time to time, detach the blade and brush out underneath. Keep Wahl Special Blade Oil 200ml at the station for the daily oiling, and Wahl Oil Tube 10ml in the case for work away from it.
Complete your Wahl setup
- Finish the line - a trimmer for the outline after the bulk
- The last pass - a foil shaver for a skin-smooth finish
- Keep the blade in shape - clipper oil for the station and the case
Frequently asked questions
How many batteries come with it, and can I swap them?
Two, and they are interchangeable: put a charged one in the clipper and charge the other.
What does Constant Speed Control do?
It is WAHL's motor control: it adjusts the motor automatically while you work.
How does the taper lever work?
It is built into the clipper and gives free-flow tapering: you taper with the lever rather than by changing guides.
Which guides are included?
Four slide-on guides: 3 at 1/8 inch (3.0 mm), 6 at 1/4 inch (6.0 mm), 9 at 23/64 inch (9.0 mm) and 12 at 15/32 inch (12.0 mm).
Is the Genio German-made?
Yes. It is made in Germany.
How do I clean and oil the blade?
Switch it off. Brush the teeth clean after each client; at the end of the day put a few drops of clipper oil across the teeth, run it briefly and wipe off the excess. Clean it dry; never rinse it, even with the blade detached.
